Beat the Bore

Date & Location

Elmore, Gloucestershire

Organiser’s Description

This run is a challenge against one of nature's amazing natural phenomenon, a tidal wave on the River Severn. The Severn has one of the largest tides in the World, and a 4* Bore is expected in April 2016 due to a 10m+ tide. That’s a big wave! Starting from Elmore, this route takes you inland and away from the River, up to Hockley Hill, the highest point of the race at 180ft at the 1 mile mark. After a descent round Monks Hill, the run heads for the River bank at 3 miles. Now the race really starts as the Bore is already on its way, and will be chasing you upstream, past Waterend to Hill Farm (4 miles) and to the Shark (5 miles), and it will be getting faster as you attempt to reach the finish at Weir Green.
