Dark Peaks Trail Marathon

Langsett, South Yorkshire

Langsett, United Kingdom

Sat 7th December 2019

Starting at 09:00

Organiser's Description

Starting from the beautiful village of Langsett, this exciting new race will twist and wind through some of the most scenic forest trails in the Peak District. A single track changes in elevation several times, and from the top of the climb you will be greeted by a spectacular technical descent which will land you right into the heart of the Derwent Valley. Gentle rolling tracks along Derwent Water, will eventually be hit head on by some tough gritty climbs onto the outer edges of the Valley. Then it's the final climb onto the last ridge before you descend back to the finish for a well earned cuppa.

Tough, Grueling, Amazing. This was my first marathon, other runners told me that I was really throwing myself in the deep end. It is very hilly, some of the terrain is quite rocky which m can make it very hard to run on, especially with tired legs. Scenery is outstanding. I loved it, I found the last few miles the hardest. The race organisers were extremely friendly and helpful, it was well organised and there is a superb little cafe where registration takes place which sells amazing chips for the end of the race 🙂
