A great event which I will be returning to. I wasn't a runner until I decided that I wanted to run the London 2019 marathon!! The Dartford half marathon was my first ever race I have run in (apart from sports days when I was young) and I was pretty nervous about the whole thing especially as I was going alone, well not the running part actually more where to park, get change, leave my bag but it was so well organised I shouldn't have worried at all. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it and finished in 2 hours 14 mins which I thought was ok for my first run. I just need to double the distance now. Everyone was so helpful and supportive. Thank you everyone that my made day so enjoyable.

a tough morning. Driving up from Sittingbourne I was a touch nervous about trying this new event. We arrived early, before some signs about parking were put out, but a very helpful marshall soon got us to the right place and the cadets helped us park. We walked down to the start and the lady on the tanoy was giving clear instructions and advice. Plenty of toilets so not a long wait for a last nervous wee!! the start could have been a little better organised in terms of suggesting where to be on projected finish time. As a result got dragged along a little too quickly. The course was well signposted and there were plenty of marshalls on the route all offering great support. The hills, I found were worse than described, especially the one around the 10 mile mark, although I managed to run the whole of it without resorting to a walk. Although when at the top I was knackered and those who took the walking option soon re-overtook me!!! At the finish there was lots of encouragement and clapping and the medal was a good looking bit of bling. I especially enjoyed the cookie at the finish line. Good facilities for a shower after to freshen up. A definite challenge of a course and I ended just a few minutes off a PB. Good preparation for the hilly Brighton marathon in April. Would probably do this one again. Thanks for a good experience.
