Sun 29th March 2020

Starting at 09:00

Organiser's Description

POSTPONED - Unfortunately, due to the closure of the venue for this event due to ongoing issues surrounding Coronavirus, this event is postponed. We are currently looking to confirm a new date and will be in touch with anyone who has an entry when we have confirmed a new date.

This 13.1mile course has been described as one of the toughest in the East Midlands. Available places are hotly contested, with only 800 up for grabs this year. Starting and finishing at Charnwood College, the route is all on pavements/footpaths/pathways and takes you through parts of Shepshed, Hathern and the beautiful Garendon Estate.

Organised by the Loughborough based charity, Living Without Abuse, all the money raised from the event goes towards the Charity’s vital and much needed work of supporting men, women and children who have had their lives shattered by domestic abuse.

There's also a Team Relay Baton Challenge - split the distance between 4 of you to take on this challenging event.

Event Day Information

Your race number/timing chip will be available to collect before or on the race day – you will be advised on collection information and ‘on the day’ information approximately 2 weeks prior to race day.

Registration: If you haven’t collected your race number bib beforehand, you will need to collect on race day from 7.30am at the registration point at the sports hall at the College. Staff may be limited here so please bear with us. Race bib collection will close at 8.30am; after this time they will not be given out. Please allow yourself enough time to get to the start line ready for the warm up at 8.40.

If you have already collected your race number bib you will NOT need to go to registration to register again

Baggage storage: You will be able to store your bag alongside registration in the sports hall at a separate table, so please look for the baggage sign. Please note baggage collection will close at 12.30pm prompt.

Warm up: There will be a ‘warm up’ prior to the start around 8.40. Please note that late starters may not be allowed to compete.

Water: Will be available at the water stations at approx. 2.5 miles, 4.5 miles, just after 7 miles, 9.5 miles, just before 12 miles, and at the finish line.

Finish line: Once you pass the finish you will be directed to claim your medal, a drink of water and also to collect your goody bag. You are more than welcome to take advantage of the sports massages being offered.

This event will officially finish at 12.30pm and all marshals, volunteers, first aid, traffic management and end cyclists etc. will cease after this time.

Lots of information will be sent out to all entrants and teams leading up to the event, and do keep checking the Facebook pages for updates too.

Course Details

This is a 2 loop course, starting and finishing in the sports field of Charnwood College. The run is ALL on pavements/footpaths/pathways so please stay off of the roads. Parts of the route may be wet, uneven and even a bit muddy, especially as you enter back into Garendon estate for the 2nd loop, so please take extra care.

Only cross the roads at the crossing points as instructed by the marshals - do not run in the road between cars on your own.

FAQs

1. Is this event suitable for wheelchair users?

You would need to have all weather tyres. To discuss further please contact [email protected]

2. Where can I park?

There will be plenty of parking at Charnwood College, Thorpe Hill, Loughborough, LE11 4SQ

You can arrive anytime from 7.30am, this will give you time to collect your race number and chip timing (if not already done so), store your baggage and proceed to the starting point. The Loughborough Half Marathon will start promptly at 9am – there will also be a ‘warm up’ prior to the start.

***Unfortunately late starters will not be allowed to compete and will not be timed***

4. What do I need to bring with me?

You need to ensure you have your running gear and running shoes with you. You also need to bring along your confirmation e-mail to collect your running number and chip timing. It is also an idea to bring some dry warm clothes for after the race

5. Do I have to wear my race number?

You must wear your race number on the front of your top, visible at all times. The number must belong to the entrant and the number is not transferable. Failure to adhere to these guidelines will result in instant disqualification.

9. Can I listen to my music or bring my dog with me for company?

Unfortunately the answer is NO to both points. We do not advise listening to music as you need to be fully alert to the surrounding potential hazards and you need to be able to listen to the guidelines from the marshals AT ALL TIMES.

Dogs are great pets but sadly are not allowed on this route.
