Organiser's Description

This new event, part of the Prudential RideLondon festival of cycling, is a spectacular 46-mile route on traffic-free roads, beginning at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London and following the same route as the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 for the first 27 miles, before taking a two-mile route which then links up with the last 17 miles through London to the finish in The Mall. This ride has been created specifically for newer and younger cyclists, who might find a 100-mile challenge intimidating or who are not eligible to enter. A great introduction to cycling on traffic-free roads and a wonderful way to ride your first sportive.

I love this. Signed up for the 46 as I didn't get a place in the 100. Nice late start (0908) meant I could comfortably travel by tube and cycle from Aldgate straight up the CS2 to Stratford. Bag drop worked perfectly. Bit of hanging around waiting to start but given the number of people riding I cannot moan about that. Plenty of toilets at start area. The course is an absolute pleasure - closed roads through the centre of London!! Very flat course - only 3 small rises in the whole 74km. Finish a bit congested but, again, 30,000+ riders... Lots of food options in Green Park A good introduction for somebody considering a sportive but unsure about riding in big groups. No traffic at all is such a big positive
