La Marmotte Pyrenees

Luz Ardiden, France

20 Place du 8 Mai, 65120 Luz-Saint-Sauveur, France

Sun 28th August 2016

Organiser's Description

In the style of the Alpine classic, this new event takes in legendary climbs from the Tour de France and becomes one of the more difficult rides of the year. After a gentle incline from the start at Argeles-Gazost, you're straight onto the first and longest climb of the day - the Col du Tourmalet. A very long descent to the next climb, Hauquette d’Ancizan, and after probably the only flat section of the day, you tackle one of the most popular sections of the Tour, the Col d'Aspin, then the Col du Tourmalet from the other side. And there's still the small matter of Luz Ardiden to get up, with its tight hairpins. The climb finally opens out to one of the best views in cycling, which should help you conquer the last leg of this great route.
