Beyond Orienteering (Dorset)
This event is classed as an adventure race, and requires navigational skills using a map and compass to navigate from point to point. You will need to move at speed (except the family event) in a mix of unusual and possibly unfamiliar terrain. Participants will be given a topographical map, a specially prepared orienteering map which you will use to find control points; at each control point you should punch you control card to show you have visited that point.
All the courses are a mix of stunning Dorset wide open countryside, woodland, pathways and some urban areas (course specific). Of course there are a few hills (route specific) to slow you down, and you will need to study your map before the start and plan what you believe will be the fastest route to visit the most control points.
