Bournemouth Pier to Pier Swim
We're back for our 30th anniversary!
Take part on Saturday or Sunday and swim 1.4 miles between Bournemouth and Boscombe Piers in one of Europe's biggest charity swimming events.
Your willpower has never been more important to support the lives of those living with heart and circulatory diseases.
The safety of our participants is always of utmost importance to us all at the BHF and we will be committing every effort to ensure that our event delivery is aligned to all of the latest UK Government guidance, specifically concerning COVID-19.
Our production team are reviewing all aspects of event delivery and will be implementing various social distancing processes and doing everything that we can to stop any possible transmission during our events. Click here to review these measures in detail.
If the event is cancelled due to COVID-19, supporters will have the opportunity to have their place deferred to the next year or a refund of their registration fee. If a participant tests positive for COVID-19 in the 2 weeks leading up to event or has been instructed to self-isolate in this timeframe, please do not attend the event and follow government guidelines – your place will be deferred to the next year’s event.
So, with things changing we know that you will have a few questions prior to taking on your challenge. Please follow this link to check out our FAQ’s, which should explain in more detail how we will be rolling out COVID secure events.

The event takes place very near Bournemouth Town Centre and there are plenty of pay and display car parks nearby. Follow the signs as you approach the town, and remember to bring some change with you.
The start site is situated left of Bournemouth Pier as you facing the sea. Look out for the BHF flags and signage!
Bournemouth Pier Approach, Bournemouth, BH2 5AA
This event is completely planned, organised and managed by the British Heart Foundation and your entry fee only covers the cost of organising the event.
We ask participants to pledge to raise at least £250, but don't worry, plenty of help will be on hand! Your support will raise vital funds for our life saving research during what has been the biggest challenge in our 60 year history.
Creating an online fundraising page is the easiest way to raise money and just takes a few minutes!
Once signed up, you will be unable to change your start time.
You must be 14 years old to take part in the swim.
Anyone under 18 must wear a wet suit (unless able to provide evidence that they are an experienced open water swimmer) and must be accompanied by an adult in the water for the duration of the event.
There will be a luggage transport service to take your belongings to the finish. Please note, only one small piece of luggage will be accepted and remember to attach the luggage label provided. There are toilets available at both start and finish locations. Unfortunately, this year we are unable to provide changing facilities.
Refreshments can be purchased from a local café at Boscombe Pier. All participants will receive water and a free hot drink once their swim is completed.
We are of course looking to reduce congestion across all of our events to bolster the effectiveness of our COVID-19 safety measures. We also appreciate that supporters are an integral part of events and a safety measure to our participants in their own right. With that in mind, we will be permitting 1 supporter or just immediate family for each participant taking part in the event! We are afraid that dogs are not welcome at this event.
