Brewin Dolphin New Forest Summer

Fawley, Southampton

Gang Warily Recreation Centre, Newlands Road, Fawley, Southampton SO45 1GA

Sat 29th June 2019

Organiser's Description

This Sportive takes you out to conquer the wonders of the New Forest, promising to be packed with wildlife and scenic views. You will cycle along the coastal route via Calshot, Lepe, and Exbury, passing through the gorgeous Lepe Country Park along the way. The beautiful village of Beaulieu is also on the way.

Short route riders will take on the climb to Hatchet pond then along to Brockenhurst to rejoin the rest of the pack. Epic and Standard riders head North West to Lyndhurst, passing the quaint Forest railway station at Beaulieu Road. After a quick glance at the bustling town we’ll push on up to Ashurst before tracking along the eastern edge of the Forest.

From here we will head deeper in to the heart of the old royal hunting ground, eventually reaching the small hamlet of Fritham. Standard riders will carry on towards Bolderwood, while Epic riders continue their journey North for a loop that winds its way in and out of the most northerly border of the Forest. Riders regroup and strike a course South towards the focal point of the ride - a spectacular stint through Ornamental Drive. It is here you will see the best the New Forest has to offer.
