Burton Marathon, Half, 10k, 5k

Litton Cheney, Dorset

1 School House Ln, Litton Cheney, Dorchester DT2 9AU, UK

Sun 13th October 2019

Starting at 09:00

Organiser's Description

Burton Marathon / Litton cheney chase.

We return in 2019 with the BB Marathon and associated running distance events, building on the amazing time had in 2018 and now in its 4th year. Our events are super relaxed and chilled affairs, so we encourage all abilities of runner to come and choose a distance. The routes are on nice quiet country roads, with aid stations on route, and as always, a welcoming environment. Children 14 and under run for free (5k) as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

The 10km route is new for 2019, its only 63m of climbing and is going to be rapid, so come try for that elusive PB.

The event is now based at Litton cheney village hall, Four races on nice, quiet country roads, and a nice country pub, something to look forward to at the end!

How To Get There

Use postocde DT6 4ND for your Satnav

From the West: follow the M5 and then the A30 onto the A35.

From London: take the M3 southbound, then the M27 westbound. The M27 then becomes the A31. Turn onto the A35 towards Bridport.

From Birmingham or Bristol: Take the M5 southbound. At junction 25 (Taunton), take the A358 to Axminster. Take the A35 eastbound towards Bridport.

Follow signs towards Bridport and from the A35 head towards the West Bay Rd roundabout and take the B3157 towards Burton Bradstock. Continue on the B3157 for approximately 2.5 miles. You will see a grass triangle on your left with a sign for Rustic Cider. Take this turning onto Bredy Road and continue for just over a mile. There will be a turning on the left hand side, with a roadside sign for 'Cider'. Continue along Bredy Lane and over the little bridge - the farmyard will be on your left, where you will find the Cider Shed to check-in!

By public transport: The venue is not easy to access via public transport, so we would advise you to drive or use a taxi service if possible. However, the X53 bus passes through Burton Bradstock from Bridport to Weymouth and vice versa and the farm is then a 2 mile walk from Burton Bradstock.

Parking

There is parking at Bredy Farm

Course Details

5k: A gentle nice easy going route, an out and back 2.5k, with just one slope (it's not a hill).

10k: There are no major hills on the 10k route, many people achieve PBs. It's a straight out and back 5k with no junctions.

Half Marathon: An undulating route, which is tough but achievable and lots of PBs.

Marathon: Two laps of the half marathon course. We want everyone to finish the marathon who starts and if you can manage 7 hours and under then enter now.

A few places for family and friends to cheer you on - all at pubs

Great Event. A well organised event. Leading up to the event I received emails detailing the event times and route, including route distance/elevation etc. On race day, registration was simple and fast. Refreshments where provided (not free, except feed stations). The route was clearly sign posted, with extra marshals posted at important turns. The finishers medal was also of a nice quality.

Dreadful is the best I can say. If you want a race with no official start, no official finish, no timing chip and no medical cover, then go with this company.
Thanks for this review, as was discussed on the day with you. You were late for the start so missed the briefing and as such missed that because of the awful weather our start/Finish gantry was not going to be erected, or it may of ended up on Mars. Medical cover was there, it just wasn't needed by anybody (Which is superb). If you go to our webpage you will see results and timings for every runner including you, we switched you from the full to the half as thats the distance you managed, your time was 02:54:24 , we appreciate all comments good and back and would welcome you back to an event at any time. with thanks
