The most exciting 10 mile fully closed road run is coming to the East of England. This is a beautiful, rolling out and back route, which starts and finishes at the East of England Showground and heads down to the historic village of Elton, making the experience completely unique.

Whether you’re an elite racer, completed many running events, enjoy running with friends and family, a fundraiser or even a complete beginner to running, this is the perfect event for all.

The 10 mile route is a great stepping stone from the 10k to the half, and even the full marathon distances, and a chance to enjoy traffic-free roads in the company of thousands of like-minded spirits.

Entry Options

VIP
Enjoy the event as a VIP. From arrival in to the VIP car park to VIP registration, CK lounge, complimentary food and drink, toilets and bag drop. We’ll even walk you down to the start line, where you’ll have the chance to start right at the front.

Express Entry
Why not make your whole experience more enjoyable by adding the Express Entry. Skip the registration queues by having your Rider Pack sent out to your home address, avoid the parking queues by parking in the Gold car park and we’ll even throw in the Bag Drop for you to leave your belongings with us while you’re out on your run.

Race Faqs

When do I receive my race number?

You collect your Runner Pack from our Registration Area at the Event HQ. To speed up your experience, you can always add the Express Entry option, which includes Gold Parking throughout the whole weekend, leave your bag and belongings in our secure Bag Drop and we’ll also send your Runner Pack to your home address too.


What happens if my race pack doesn’t arrive on time?

The Express Entry option is available to purchase up to 2 weeks prior to the event to allow for plenty of time to send you Runner Pack to you. If, for any reason, it doesn’t arrive then we will replace your Pack at the Event Solutions Desk at the Event HQ.


What should I do if I lose my race number?

Email us at [email protected] and we can replace your Runner Pack for a small fee.


Will there be chip timing?

Yes, the timing chip is inside the foam strips on the back of your runner number. You must not damage these or try to remove them from the back of the number otherwise you will not get a time.

Event HQ FAQs

Where is the Event HQ?

The Event HQ is at the East of England Showground, Peterborough, PE2 6SE. You’ll find Registration, the Start and Finish areas, Fan Zones, exhibitors, our Podium, Event Camping, Toilets, Showers and lots of food and drink concessions.


What is the nearest train station to the race?

The nearest train station is Peterborough Train Station. It is approximately 5 miles away from the Event HQ. It’s easily walkable, there are buses running to the Event HQ vicinity, as well as taxis available.


Is there Event Camping?

There certainly is. We have a Camping Area available, which allows you to make a great weekend of the Cambridgeshire Summer Run. Come and stay with us for up to 3 nights and you’ll not only enjoy the event atmosphere but you’ll be living in it!


Is there event parking available?

There certainly is; we have event parking just a stone throw away from the Event HQ.

You can upgrade your parking with our Express Entry option, which allows you to park in our Gold Parking Area throughout the whole weekend. If you fancy parking in our VIP Parking Area, upgrade your entry to VIP.


When will parking be available to book?

You can book the Express Entry or VIP option when you enter or you can book it separately at a later date HERE.


Is there disabled parking at the Event HQ?

There certainly is. Disabled parking will be allocated to blue badge holders only.


When does the Event HQ parking open?

The car parks open 15 minutes before the Event HQ opening times. We’re open from 4pm on Friday, 6am on Saturday and 6am on Sunday.


Where is Registration situated?

Registration is situated inside the Atrium, which is located next to the main arena and exhibition area.


Will there be a designated area for runners to meet their friends and family afterwards?

Yes, we have a huge outside area, as well as indoor areas available. All runners will cross the finish line and directed back to the main Event HQ area, where friends and family can come and meet with you.


Is there anywhere to leave my bags while I’m running?

Yes, we have a secure Bag Drop within the Event HQ. A local charity manage the Bag Drop throughout the whole weekend so we just ask that you leave a small donation to use the facilities.


Are there showers and changing facilities?

Yes, we have shower facilities available on site and areas within the toilet and shower facilities to change.


What other facilities are at the Event HQ?

We have a jam-packed full weekend of sport, including the Tour of Cambridgeshire, which hosts a World Championships Qualifier event, as well as a sportive. We also have a Family Bike Ride, kids inflatable activities and exhibitors showcasing and selling their products and services.


Will I be able to buy event merchandise at the Event HQ?

Yes, you can buy event merchandise from our partners within our EXPO area within the Event HQ.


Will there be activities to entertain my family?

We have lots going on for the family, including inflatable activities, a Family Bike Ride and lots a exhibitors to visit.


Is entry for spectators into the Event HQ?

It certainly is, they can come and go as they please.


Are dogs allowed in the Event?

Of course they can come and join in with the fun, we just ask that they are kept on a lead at all times.


Is there a sports massage facilities available?

We have Clinic4Sport available for both pre and post run sports massages. They can be found in the EXPO area in the Event HQ.

Race FAQs

How long is the course?

The route is 10 miles or 16km in total.


Is the course distance accurate?

We have had the route officially measured as accurate by the Association of UK Course Measurers to the AIMS worldwide standard.


What time does the race start?

9:30am on Saturday 6th June 2020


Is there a pre-race warm-up?

We will have a pre-warm up at 9:15am, within your start pens so make your way to your pen and join in to get warmed up.


Will there be any refreshments available before or after the race?

Due to us pledging to the Big Plastic Pledge and eliminating plastics at all of our events, we will have water bowsers available to fill your bottles up at the start and finish. You’ll also receive an ice-cold Erdinger Alkoholfrei beer as you cross the finish line.

There will be lots of food and drink concessions available at the Event HQ to purchase.


What surface will we be running on?

We want to make this course a real contender for your personal best time so all running surfaces will be tarmac, which are all well-maintain. We will be using main A and B roads, which will be fully closed to all traffic.


My training hasn’t been going to plan. Can I start in a different start wave?

Of course you can. We ask that you try and stick to your start time as best as you can, but if you don’t feel comfortable with where you’re supposed to be, we’re more than happy for you to move. The start times are to help ensure runners are running with other of their own ability, making the whole event safer for all.


Is there any medical cover available?

We have a huge medical team available both out on the route and at the Event HQ. Should you require any medical attention, come and find one of the team, whether it be a steward, official or Tour Maker and we’ll be able to put you in to the very capable hands of the medical team. There will also be a Medical contact number available on the back of your runner number.


Are toilets available on the course?

Yes we have toilets located around the route. These will be marked on The Route map.


Is there a time limit on finishing the race?

The time limit for the Cambridgeshire Summer Run is 2 1/2 hours. There will be a Sweep Team available to collect any runners who are struggling and repatriate back to the Event HQ.


Will I get a medal at the finish?

Of course you will. You’ll be presented your finishers medal as you cross the line to make your amazing achievement.


Can I run in fancy dress?

We would love to see runners in a fancy dress so yes of course. Don’t forget ot practice in your costume before the big day to ensure it fits in all the right places, you can actually run in and you’re also not going to overheat should we get some nice weather.

Please note that if we see your outfit dangerous or unsuitable, we may ask you to remove your costume or refuse starting the event at all.


Can I take use a bike, stilts, roller skates, scooters or skateboards? Can I push my little one in their pushchair?

Unfortunately, none of the above, or anything along the same lines are permitted. If you do attempt to use any equipment such as the above, you may be removed from the route.


Can I take part in a wheelchair?

Unfortunately not for 2020. We are looking to have a wheelchair event in 2021.


Can I wear earphones/listen to music during the race?

We hold this race under British / UK Athletics road race rules and regulations. A rule was introduced from 1 April 2016 regarding wearing of headphones in road races (2016-2018 edition of the UKA Rules of Competition). The UKA state that the use of bone conductor type headphones is acceptable, but NO OTHER types of headphones/earphones will be allowed. Anyone seen wearing headphones/earphones (excluding bone conductor headphones) will be asked to remove them or will be disqualified.
