Extremely flat and spectator-friendly, the Telenor Copenhagen Marathon is a loop course running through the very best of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg, with the start and finish at the harbour front of Islands Brygg.
Feel the presence of history running through the old part of Copenhagen, past Nyhavn (New Harbour), the old Stock Exchange "Børsen", and the Parliament Building Christiansborg. Take in the sizzling atmosphere while being cheered on by the amazing crowd at Dronning Louises Bro, and enjoy the good vibes in the hip Vesterbro-district.
Live the party again, or for the first time, and look forward to experiencing the City unfolding around the next corner. More than 100,000 spectators will make sure you get all the support you need to get across the finish line.
Islands Brygge, 2300 Copenhagen S, Denmark
By car: Due to very limited parking options in the start and finish area, and since many of the City's streets will be closed, we recommend using public transport as far as possible.
If you are obliged to take the car, we recommend parking in the outskirts of Copenhagen and using public transport in from there. Be aware of race day road closures and redirections.
By public transport: S-trains, Metro and regional trains stop very close to the start and finish area, and the operation is not affected by the marathon race. Several buses also stop close to Islands Brygge, but some bus lines are closed on the race day. You can read about all changes in bus traffic on dot.dk before the race day.
The closest stations are:
- S-train: Dybbølsbro st./Fisketorvet or Copenhagen Central Station
- Metro: Islands Brygge st.
- Other trains: Copenhagen Central Station
In order to be sure of your trip, we recommend planning your route on reisplanen.dk , which is always updated with the latest traffic information.

The start of the 41st Telenor Copenhagen Marathon will be at 9.30 from Islands Brygge, Copenhagen S. The actual starting area opens at 7.30. There will be a dedicated Runners' Area to which spectators does not have access. Spectators are welcome to watch the race from the stands and along the runway at Islands Brygge.
Timing is carried out with an integrated disposable vessel in your start number. The starting number must not be bent or altered as it may damage the chip. It is important that your starting number is placed visibly on the chest for timing and photo service. All participants receive intermediate times every 5 km and at 21.1 km. In each interim period there are set up times so you can check your time (gross). After the race, the starting number can be thrown away.
The winners (top 20 M/F) of Telenor CPH Marathon and any championships are decided on gross times. For all other participants, it will be the net time, ie. time from the starting line to the finish line, which is the official time.
You have the opportunity to follow one of the 13 pace teams all the way from the starting line to the finish line. The experienced pacers help you to keep a steady pace and reach the exact time you want to achieve. Before the race, they will be found in the starting section corresponding to their target time, indicated on their coloured balloons.
The official time limit of the race is set to: at 21.1 km (halfway) 3 hours net; at 42.2 km (the finish line) 6 hours net.
Participants who after 3 hours net have not passed the half marathon (21.1 km), or who are unable to complete the entire distance in less than 6 hours net, are advised that the race manager reserves the right to: start the lifting of traffic barriers, after which the general provisions of the Traffic and Traffic Act must be complied with; begin the removal of route markings (route officers can provide route maps); start closing liquid depots including toilets and meal areas; cease video and timing including registration of intermediate times.
If you choose not to complete the race, it is important that you do not cross the finish line. Contact an official if you need help.
There are 12 catering zones approximately 3.5km apart, all located on the right side of the road. There will be signage on the route as you approach a catering area.
At each catering zone, the following is offered: Showers; Private fluid (reserved for the elite); Water (in plastic mug); High5 EnergySource citrus (in plastic mug); Water (in plastic mug); Orange and banana (at every other depot); Toilets
