This is a classic Autumn sportive and an opportunity to get some pre-Wwinter miles in, as you ride a network of mainly fast, quiet country lanes that criss-cross the beautiful and gently undulating Norfolk countryside. This ride supports Cycling Down Dementia
Starting in the market town of Fakenham, we head out from the racecourse and epic and standard routes part ways almost immediately. The 53 mile route heads North West on typically flat land towards pretty villages offering a traditional taste of East Anglia, with its millponds and flint cottages. Our 78 mile route begins with an additional easterly loop from the racecourse, crossing the River Wensum before the rolling country terrain opens up. Pedal through quaint villages, briefly skirting the Norfolk Coast AONB, and re-join the shorter route. Save enough in the tank to enter the tree-lined grounds of the Royal Sandringham Estate, then only a short ride separates you from a finisher’s medal back in Fakenham.
