Daffodil Run & Walk

Pooley Bridge, Cumbria

Pooley Bridge, Penrith, Cumbria, UK

Sat 23rd March 2019

Organiser's Description

The fondly named 'DaffyDo' originated from the floods of Storm Desmond in 2015. Pooley Bridge was washed away and the village cut in half for six months. We organised a run or walk from Pooley to highlight the issue and to celebrate the wonderful trails and scenery around Pooley Bridge.

The route goes from Pooley, up towards Askham Fell and takes in the recently established Ullswater Way towards Howtown. It passes the impressive 'The Cockpit' stone circle and the newly installed 'Wainwright Sitting Stone'. The views along the Lake are stunning and the trails sweep you to Hallin Fell, the magnificent 'little fell' situated halfway along Ullswater. The beauty of The Daffodil Run is that you can run or walk as much or as little as you wish. The full route, to Hallin fell and back is 13miles, but being and out and back route you can turn around at Martindale Church and shorten the route accordingly.
