Dark Dart Dash 10k, 5k, 2k & 1k

Dartington Hall, Dartington, Nr Totnes, Devon

THE REFECTORY, DARTINGTON HALL TRUST, DARTINGTON, TQ9 6EE

Sat 7th December 2019

Starting at 17:30

Organiser's Description

The Dart Dart Dash, a 10k night race around the woods of Dartington, is back for its 5th year. There are a few hills and usually a fair bit of mud (although some of the worst sections have recently been resurfaced). Bring your friends, dress up, have a sup of mulled wine and share in the festive atmosphere and warm food, cooked by our caterers. Oh and bring a head torch…you will need it! By popular demand we’ve added a 5k version open to anyone over 12, and 2k & 1k Kids' Races for children from 3-11.

The terrain is less challenging than the Wild Night Run and if you’re new to night running, this race is an ideal introduction.

How To Get There

By Car: From Exeter: From the M5, take the Plymouth (A38) road until the exit signposted to Totnes, Dartmouth and Kingsbridge. Turn left onto the A384 and shortly after the Dartington village sign, turn left at Dartington Church and follow for 1 mile. The main car park is on the left.

From Plymouth take the A38 up to the A385 turning, signposted to Totnes, Dartmouth and Kingsbridge. Then as above.

By train: The nearest rail station is Totnes (on the main Paddington/Penzance line), approximately 1½ miles from Dartington. There is a taxi rank at Totnes Station. To catch a bus from the train station, cross the main road to catch the 165 or the 88/Gold service.

By bus: 165, Totnes to Dartington Hall/Broadhempston. Stops at The Shops at Dartington and the central estate (Hall and Gardens). 88, Totnes to Newton Abbot via Ashburton and Buckfastleigh. Stops at The Shops at Dartington. Gold Bus, Torquay to Plymouth via Totnes. Stops at The Shops at Dartington.

All three services can be boarded in Totnes on Coronation Road (by the Royal Seven Stars Hotel), and opposite the train station.

By bike: The Sustrans National Cycle Route 2 path runs along the edge of the Dartington Hall estate, from Dartington village to Totnes, which intersects with the lower Dartington drive that leads uphill from Totnes to Dartington Hall. Please bring your own secure bike lock.

On foot: The Dartington Hall estate can be reached via various footpaths from all directions; it is connected to neighbouring Totnes by a path. To access it, walk through Totnes Rail Station’s main car park to the opposite end from the main road to locate the footpath to Dartington. While the whole route is pushchair-friendly, the final climb to the main estate is substantial.
