Organiser's Description

Set at the spectacular, smooth-surfaced Dorney Lake, the race begins with a swim in the lake, then follows the perimeter of the water for the flat cycle and run. With fuel /water stations and chip-timed results we tri to make it as easy as possible to get your pacing right so that you can focus on your race for the best possible time.

Super fast course - perfect for beginners or intermediates. Anyone can enter this triathlon. Olympic and Sprint distances.

Sprint distance: 09:30 (Female), 09:45 (Male).

Event Information

Entry on the Day: Subject to a £3 surcharge (cash only, subject to availability).

Age Requirements: On the day of the race, participants must be aged 17 yrs or over for the Olympic distance, 15yrs or over for the Sprint distance,

Registration: Olympic distance: 07:30 to 08.30, Sprint distance: 08:30 to 09:30. Participants will need to register no later than 30 minutes prior to their wave start time. Transition will be open from 08:00.

Race Packs: For collection at registration on the day only, nothing will be posted. Race packs will contain:

- Ankle strap/timing chip and swimming cap displaying your race number, to be worn throughout the swim.

- Number transfers for application to your upper arm.

- Race number bib and timing chip, to be worn throughout the run/cycle.

- A smaller race number card and timing chip, to be attached to your bicycle handlebars.

- British Triathlon Event Day Membership (if unaffiliated).

Pre-race preparation:

- Dress for your swim to include your swim cap, ankle chip and arm transfers.

- Attach your race number to the top in which you will be running using the safety pins provided, it should be visible at all times.

- Attach the smaller race number to your bicycle handlebars using the cable-ties provided and rack your bicycle in the transition area.

- Take your remaining running/cycling kit to the transition area for your pre-race briefing, 15 minutes prior to your wave start time.

Spectators: Spectators are welcome to position themselves on the route and will see competitors most often if positioned around the start/finish/transition area.

Licensing: This race will be licensed with the British Triathlon Federation and the results submitted within a week of the race.

Pacers: Pacers will not be offered at this race.

Course Details

OLYMPIC DISTANCE:

Route (Swim):

- Wave 1 (Female) starts promptly at 08:30, Wave 2 (Male) at 09:00.

- All competitors must begin their race in the water - launching from the pontoon is not permitted.

- You will be permitted to enter the water up to five minutes prior to your wave start time.

- The swim route is a rectangular section of the lake marked with buoys and led by a kayak.

- Olympic distance competitors complete 2 laps of the swim route for a total of 1500m.

Transition (Swim/Cycle):

You will exit the water and walk immediately to the transition area, running in the transition area is prohibited. Without removing your ankle timing chip, leave any swim kit in the transition area to collect after your run. Your cycle helmet must be on and fastened before you touch your bicycle and remain secured until it is racked on your return. You must walk with your bicycle to the transition zone exit and mount only on instruction from the marshal. Cycling in the transition zone is also prohibited.

Route (Cycle):

The 40k course consists of 8 laps of a 5k route around the lake, all on smooth tarmac.

Transition (Cycle/Run):

Signage will indicate the end of the cycle course and entrance into a dismounting area, immediately before the transition zone. You must dismount in the dismounting area and walk your bike into the transition zone. Rack your bike, remove your helmet and make any other required kit changes. Walk out of the transition zone and begin your run where indicated. Your race number, pinned to the front of the top in which you are running, must remain visible at all times.

Route (Run):

The 10k course consists of 4 laps of a 2.5k out-and-back route along the length of the lake, all on smooth tarmac.


SPRINT DISTANCE:

Route (Swim) as per Olympic distance

- Wave 1 (Female) starts promptly at 09:30, Wave 2 (Male) at 09:45.

- Sprint distance competitors complete 1 lap of the swim route for a total of 750m.

Transition (Swim/Cycle) as per Olympic distance.

Route (Cycle): The 20k course consists of 2 laps of a 10K route around the lake, all on smooth tarmac.

Transition (Cycle/Run) as per Olympic distance

Route (Run): The 5k course consists of 2 laps of a 2.5k out-and-back route along the length of the lake, all on smooth tarmac.

Facilities

Bag Drop: Whilst we recommend bringing as little as possible (surplus to the kit required to compete), you can leave your belongings with us while you race using the tear-off baggage strip on your race number, collecting after you finish by presenting your race number.

Toilets: Toilets will be available at the start/finish area throughout the event at no charge.

Race Marshals: Marshals will be present throughout the cycle/run and water safety crews present on the lake during the swim.

Distance Markers: The cycle/run route will be clearly indicated with arrows, tape and Km markers where necessary.

Water Stations: There will be a water station at each end of the 2.5k out-and-back run route (every 1.25k) at which water will be provided in recyclable plastic cups.

Refreshments: Refreshments will be available in the main building throughout the event.

Changing/Showers: Changing and shower facilities will be available at this event.

Lost Property: Lost property from an event will be kept for one month. If unclaimed, or ownership cannot be determined, lost property items will be donated to charity.

Results: Results will be uploaded live to our website (internet connection permitting) and, where possible/practical, timing print-outs will be available at the event. In all cases, results will be communicated to all pre-registered participants within 24 hours of the event.

T-shirts are available for purchase during the order process and, subject to availability, at the race for £8 (cash only). Pre-purchased T-shirts must be collected at this race and will not be available for collection at any other events.

Free on-site parking will be available, directed by marshals on arrival.

Other Information

Buggies/Pushchairs: This event is not suitable for runners with buggies/pushchairs.

Wheelchair Users: This race may be suitable for wheelchair users, please contact us to discuss any requirements prior to entering this event.

Earphones/Headphones: Any items which are can be inserted into or cover the ears, including (but not limited to) earphones, headphones, headsets or technical earplugs, are strictly prohibited. We reserve the right to disqualify participants who are found to be using any such equipment or accessories.

Event Time-Limit: Whilst there is no strict time-limit for this race, in order that we adhere to the restrictions imposed by the venue hire agreement, it may be necessary for us to begin deconstruction of the registration/finish area(s) approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes (3 hours and 30 minutes for the Sprint) after the start of the event to facilitate the removal of all equipment from the premises by the agreed time.
