The Great Fire of London Running Tour - Speedy

Monument Station, King William Street, London

Monument Station, King William Street, London, UK

Sun 1st September 2019

Organiser's Description

In September 1666, the old City of London was devastated by a blaze so monstrous it's now remembered as the Great Fire of London. Join Secret London Runs as we uncover the chaos surrounding the Great Fire over a 5k running tour through the old City. As we run through the devastation it caused, your guide will unravel the secrets of the tragic event: how did it start; was it really an accident; why did the fire rage for so long; how did Londoners dodge the flames; what enabled the fire to finally be put out, and what suspicious theories circulated shortly after the fire?

The tour starts at Monument Station and ends at the Museum of London. Each date/time has a guide pace so that everyone can join a tour in their comfort zone. This event has a choice of 'Walk/Run' - half walk, half gentle jog, we'll get you to the finish line, or 'Speedy' - you usually run 5k in under 30 minutes.
