Hameldown Hammer and Hameldown 7EVEN

Widecombe-in-the-Moor, Devon

Widecombe in the Moor TQ13 7TA, United Kingdom

Sun 24th February 2019

Organiser's Description

Two tough but scenic races which start and finish from the iconic Dartmoor village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor, at the foot of the Hameldown ‘massif’. The Hammer is a challenging race, designed to be a serious test of endurance - 98% trail over well defined, grassy, rocky, sometimes muddy tracks, through forestry glades, with a total ascent of over 600m. Most significantly, there is a double ascent of the Hameldown Ridge…. The Hammer rises high and steep; it affords spectacular views of the moor and tors, with some of the best trail running Dartmoor has to offer.

A shorter race, Hameldown 7EVEN - the ‘Long 10k’ - has 300m+ of ascent and still includes a double ascent of the Hameldown Ridge.
