Bridport, Dorset

Marsh Barn, Burton Road, Bridport, Dorset, DT6 4PS

Sat 25th April 2020

Organiser's Description

Returning in 2020 and now a two-day event, with 5km, (6km Saturday) 10km, Half marathon and Full marathon available for both days.

The Jurassic trail is not only a visually spectacular run along the Jurassic coast but also a challenge that some would class as undulating

The run has four route distance options (per day) and dependent on your choice depends on how much of a challenge you will have. Full details about each event days runs can be found on the relevant entry pages;

Please ensure you enter the correct run on the correct day!
What's Included

At the Start/Finish there will be a bag drop, coffee and cake for sale, along with hot food.

Every finisher will get as always, a really super medal, and for all other than the 5km, some goodies to take home as well.

There are also many beautiful places to eat a proper meal in West Bay after you have finished your run, booking is advised, please mention us.

We love people to challenge themselves, so we welcome you to try, and remember you have all day, we won’t leave till the last runner is home so the challenge is in your hands. With plenty of water and a feed for the 10km / 21km and Marathon runners what's stopping you.

6Km (Inc 1 Bonus Km) (Stars At 11Am Saturday)

Starting and finishing in West Bay in front of the Old Salt Yard, this 6km event is a tough route with plenty of up, but you know what comes with up, the down.

The route leaves West Bay and follows the coastal path for a loop to Eype, its an out and back, which can’t be avoided, we really wanted to include a 5km route and this was the only way to do it, its a route with some amazing views out across Lyme Bay and plenty of Dorset countryside.

11 Km (Starts At 11Am Saturday)

Starting and finishing in West Bay in front of the Old Salt Yard, this 11km is tough, with plenty of up, but you know what comes with up, the down.

The route follows the coastal path out to Seatown its sea views for 5km before you hit the feed, the route back to west bay follows the inland path and after an initial hill is mostly downhill, through fields and open countryside, the final KM is an amazing view out toward Weymouth Bay

Half 21.1Km (Starts At 11Am Saturday)

The half is a double lap of the 10km course, so after the first Lap you know what’s coming.

Starting in West Bay in front of the Old salt Yard, this HALF is tough, with plenty of up, finishes at Registration in Marsh Barn

Is it tough ? , sure it is, but there are times you have to push beyond your limits and just see what you are capable of, will it be worth it ? Absolutely, it’s the Jurassic coast, it has stunning sea views and equally stunning Dorset countryside.

Full Marathon 42.2Km (Starts At 0900 Saturday)

Starting in West Bay in front of the Old salt Yard, with plenty of up, finishes at Registration in Marsh Barn

Of the two days events the Marathon is a Killer, there is no sugar coating it, its four Laps of the 10km course and has up after up, you have Down hills for respite but the hills will feel relentless, for those that decide to enter we are confident in stating , not all of you will finish, clearly we want you to try, so bring your Hill legs and train hard, you simply will not train hard enough. (Good luck)

5Km (Starts At 11Am Sunday)

Starting just next to Marsh barn, in the old pitch and putt gravel area the trail run takes us through the beautiful golf club and onto freshwater its flat for the first 3 km which is where the Aid station is located, after this the route follows the Jurassic coastal path through freshwater and you return to West Bay (Marsh Barn) along the Jurassic cliffs, and the views along the coastline.

10km (Starts at 11am)
Starting just next to Marsh barn, in the old pitch and putt gravel area the trail run takes us through the beautiful golf club and onto freshwater its flat for the first 3 km which is where the first Aid station is located, after this the route follows the Jurassic coastal path out to Hive beach, Burton Bradstock, before we head westwards and then follow the path back to the Aid station at 8 km, its cliff path and sea views all the way back to West Bay (Marsh Barn) along the Jurassic cliffs.

Half 21.1Km (Starts At 11Am Sunday)

The Half marathon is a test in places and not to be taken lightly, starting just next to Marsh barn,

The route follows the coastal footpath from West Bay to freshwater and on to Burton Bradstock where we hit the coastal path along the cliff back to West Bay

The first parts of the Half are relatively flat but it’s the Jurassic coast so at some point it’s an up and down so it not for those that don’t like a challenge..

Repeat twice for the Half

Full Marathon 42.2Km (Starts At 0900 Sunday)

The marathon will be brutal and not to be taken lightly , starting just next to Marsh barn, in the old pitch and putt gravel area the trail run takes us through the beautiful golf club and onto freshwater its flat for the first 3 km which is where the first Aid station is located, after this we meet our first hill (well there is a little one at the start), its short and sharp.

At the top we get our first glimpse of the sea, before we head for Burton Bradstock's hive beach, through the fields we follow the coastline.
The route follows the coastal footpath the sea is next to us before we link back up with the 10 km route, after the feed this is when the fun really begins, once on the cliff path, you will realise why we have chosen this location, its simply breath-taking, and the views (If there is no mist) are to die for, It’s the Jurassic coast at its most superb.

Repeat 4 times in total for the Marathon

Parking

Parking for the event is next to the start and 300 metres from registration, parking is £2.00 per car (CAR SHARE WHERE POSSIBLE).

Parking is £2.00 because we have to hire a field, as the local council wont allow parking in the public car parks, we are also trying to keep entry costs down, so that there is affordability for all.

If you can get four in your car its an addition 50p for all day parking.
