Organiser's Description

The Leeds Half Marathon - which this year celebrates its 32nd anniversary - is firmly established as one of the highlights on the Leeds sporting calendar, thanks to its challenging course, enthusiastic crowds and fantastic atmosphere. Around 9,000 sign up for this annual event raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for charities and good causes across Yorkshire and beyond. The route heads out of the City centre, takes in a section of the Ring Road and returns via Abbey Road and Kirkstall Road before finishing in Cookridge Street alongside Millennium Square. The event forms part of the Plusnet Marathon Series that also features the Yorkshire Half Marathon-Sheffield and the Yorkshire Marathon.

Very well organised but a really hard route. The 2019 Leeds Half was my first Half Marathon Race. I have to say, it was incredibly well organised, with the start waves and pens/warm ups being very clearly announced. My only negative would be the finish line being so far away from the Town Hall steps! Having slogged up the incline to get into town, to then find you have to keep going past the crowds to turn left up to City Hall is just so much harder, especially with it being up hill, even such a small one!! If I’m honest, a slight adjustment to the route somewhere to accommodate finishin outside the steps would, psychologically have made all the difference for me. I had nothing left to give once I got up that last hill and a spring finish was completely out of the question. The beer at the end was very much needed!!!
