May Day Triathlon

Kings School, Winchester

Winchester SO22 5PN, UK

Fri 8th May 2020

Organiser's Description

Set in the centre of Winchester, Home of King Alfred the Great, at Kings' School. A pool swim, followed by a cycle out of the historic medieval city into the wilds of Hampshire, finishing with a slightly hilly run on a combination of footpath and school playing fields.

The finish is located close to the lap point which makes for interesting spectating with all the competitors expressions. Once you have crossed through the gantry and over the finish line your bespoke medal awaits you.

May Day Tri also hosts a spectacular fun Children’s Triathlon. This is a mini version of the main triathlon which is also chip timed and is located all on the site. The children’s tri has become a very popular over the last 3 years. As the event takes place after the adult’s event it is a great opportunity for the whole family to take part, and introduce your children into the world of triathlon.

Course Details

Swim in the shallow, beginner friendly 6 lane pool with only 4 people per lane. You will get to swim with people of similar ability, so don’t worry about it being too intimidating.

Cycle out of the historic medieval city into the wilds of Hampshire, for a quiet and rolling ride, taking in the lovely small village of Sparsholt and the home of the Winchester Duathlon, Lainston House Hotel.

Transition is tree lined, an impressive linear feature, making it easy for you to find your bike in a hurry. The run is slightly hilly with one long drag down out of the school and back up again. It is a combination of footpath and running around the flat school playing fields. With lots of opportunities for your spectators to cheer you on.

The finish is located close to the lap point which makes for interesting spectating with all the competitors expressions. Once you have crossed through the gantry and over the finish line your bespoke medal awaits you.
