Mersey Tunnel 10k

Organiser's Description

What's fascinating about the Tunnel 10k is that a lot of people who have never experienced it before tend to think it will be too difficult because of the incline, petrol fumes and possible claustrophobia, when in fact it's none of the above! So, if you're looking for a race with a difference then take part!

Scummy start. The race began in 2019 on Blackstock Street - a scummy industrial street with guys working in cherry pickers, with parked cars to negotiate, as thousands of people crowded together waiting for the race to start. Plenty of toilets available, though. There were no time pens, so it was simply a mass of people queuing up to start, with a few tight bends to get onto the tunnel roads and running properly.faster runners who had been stuck near the back of the queue were able then to overtake slower participants. That long incline out of the tunnel was a killer, but once back above ground we were welcomed by freezing winds off the Mersey. The run along the prom to New Brighton was good, though, and I improved my run time
