Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park 10k - January

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London
C-19 PLAN
The Race Organiser has provided covid-19 safety information for this event.

Organiser's Description

Run in the footsteps of legends around the iconic sights of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Along a flat, smooth course, you'll be inspired by the scenic waterways, green spaces and sporting venues including the London Stadium, the London Aquatics Centre, the Copper Box Arena, Lee Valley VeloPark and Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre.

Our 10K course has been completed more than 15,000 times since we established this monthly event in 2014 - by first-timers, beginners, long-time runners and elite 10,000m athletes. It's here for everyone, whether you're chasing a 10K personal best or simply aiming to complete the course - and our brilliant race day atmosphere, souvenir medals and goody bags will make it a race to remember.

Usually with around 500 runners per race, you'll find you've all the space you need and plenty of other runners at your pace to get a great race experience.

We were the first to begin monthly 10K races around the iconic Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park following the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and we're proud to continue to offer the best value, chip-timed races on this brilliant course.

Races

We’re pleased to confirm that we’re hoping to offer carefully adapted, smaller and simplified events from September onwards.

Following updated guidance from the UK Government and the governing bodies who license our events - UK Athletics and British Triathlon - we’re working on the details to determine which events could safely take place. There’s a quick reference list on what we know so far at the bottom of this page but if you see an event open for entry on our website it means we are planning for that event to take place.

We know how important races and organised runs are to every runner. We understand that for some, the return of events can’t come soon enough. For others, taking part in an event still holds significant concerns.

It’s not going to be quite like it was before. Things will have to be a little different for a while. But the benefits of committing to a goal, running with others and that finish line feeling will be all the greater for the recent challenges we’ve all overcome.

Specific details on each of our events

We’re carefully adapting our event plans – from getting there to going home. We’re thinking through every detail that makes events feel great to work out what the safer alternatives are. Whilst the specific details for individual events are changing, all events will incorporate a range of fundamental changes to ensure a socially-distanced and contact-free event, the details of which are summarised below. Sadly, it is likely that some events will not be possible under these new requirements and in those cases we’ll announce their cancellation and explain why. Each event is different, so where they do go ahead we’ll explain what’s changed and why it’s all in place to keep everyone safe. We’ll also summarise everything you need to know in a final ‘Event Information’ email, sent a few days before your event day. If you have a question before entering, we’re here to help.

What to expect at events that go ahead:

Small and scheduled staggered/rolling wave starts

Contact-free registration with race pack by mail.

Simplified bag drop measures where available

Covid-secure water stations although self-sufficiency is advised Safe pick-up for medals and snacks

Bookable time windows from getting there to going home to control capacity.

Thank you for your support and understanding over these four months. We’ve missed you! That finish line feeling will be worth the wait. #SeeYouOnTheStartLine

Fun & Friendly Event

First time running in Stratford and it was great. A lovely route without any pressure to be the fastest. Lots of fun!

Very Well organised event

This event is really fun, easy to get to, clearly marked. The one small criticism I would have is that the bag drop queues post race in January were a bit tough. Perhaps the guys in the bag check are could just man the doors, then as people go in and find their own bag, they show luggage tag and number on exit. Only a minor issue, and not in the summer! I would definitely come again.

The First of Many

This race kicked off my goal of racing in each month during 2020 and what a positive start it was! The race was incredibly well-organised, with staff and marshalls being so encouraging throughout the morning. I would recommend the race to experienced and novice runners! The route was well thought out and I enjoyed the friendly, yet competitive, spirit of the racers.

A Sunday morning well spent.

The race was organised with great detail. Having a clear and precise route marked out. All Marshall’s were full of positivity and praise which was a great motivation boost.

A throughly enjoyable experience. I will be back!
