Rough Runner London West (Saturday)

Gunnersbury Park, London

Gunnersbury Park, Popes Lane, London W3 8QL

Sat 3rd October 2020

Starting at 10:00

Organiser's Description

Rough Runner is heading to West London for the first time ever!! 6,500 Roughians nailed the Travelator last year at Finsbury Park, and another 6,000 at Morden Park, and we felt it was unfair for everyone in West London to miss out!

We know of no other event which brings a range of obstacles so massive, so ambitious, and so much fun right into our favourite London parks. We’ll be bringing the legendary Travelator with us, and giving you the opportunity to bring your favourite TV game show memories into reality. Inspired by shows like Total Wipeout, Gladiators, Takeshi’s Castle and Ninja Warrior, this is the only event that will give you the chance to take on a load of epic obstacles that you’ve only ever seen on screen. Do it now. Regret it never.

2020 sees the introduction of new obstacles, a new kids' area, more food, drink, activities and entertainment in the Runners' Village, which will make for the best day out you’re likely to have all year! Do it now. Regret it never.

How To Get There

By train: Your best bet is Acton Town (Underground Station) on the Piccadilly/District Line – it’s a 10-minute walk.

Alternatively, Kew Bridge Station (serves both the District Line (Underground) and Overground (direct links to London Waterloo and Windsor) is a 12-minute walk.

By bus: There are a number of routes that will put you within throwing distance of the Park, but the closest are the E3 and H91 stops. Check the tfl.gov.uk website and find the best for you.

Don’t forget to check transport times beforehand in case of a strike or disruption.

Parking

We don’t offer car parking at our Gunnersbury event – there are multiple options for public transport instead. It’ll be tricky to find parking nearby, it’ll probably be expensive, and who wants to navigate weekend traffic in London anyway?

If you do need to drive, then you’ll simply have to find a parking meter or car park nearby.

Event Details

Minimum age for participants in the adult events is 16 yrs

Start times will be from 9am through to approx 3pm. We will advise you of your start time about 7 - 10 days prior to the event date.

Please arrive on site around 1 hour prior to your start time, to get yourself registered, set up and ready to run!

Bag drop: There’s a secure bag drop in the Runners’ Village, free of charge for participants. It is used at each participants’ own risk. We take no responsibility or liability for anyone’s belongings left in the bag drop.

Also, although it’s in a marquee the ground can become muddy, so don’t bring your Gucci hangbags or fancy gear! They may well get muddy!

Cmpetitor Information

Things you'll need to bring that you can’t race without:

- A print out of your ticket

- The Adult waiver – The Waiver!

- The Rough Rascals waiver (if applicable) Rascals Waiver!

- Photo ID

Cash: Cash is handy for food & drink as there are no ATMs on site or anywhere near.

Suitable clothing. Anything comfortable to run in, which you don’t mind getting a bit ruined!

Also gloves to use during the event (for all those nets and ropes).

Changing: We have changing facilities, but it’s basic – literally a marquee tent, one for men, and one for women. There’s nothing inside them – it’s not a 5* hotel!

Course Details

5 km

The 5km is particularly good fun, with 10 obstacles geared towards having a laugh whilst still providing a challenge. But there’s no suffering here (we don’t like getting electrocuted either!) – you’re just going to get very wet.

And if you’re not built to run marathons, that’s fine too. The average running distance between 2 obstacles is only about 500m, so your stamina reserves don’t need to be endless!

Enjoy the fun, and the challenge, without the pain.

10 km

The 10km is our most popular course, with up to 15 unique obstacles (it’s not two laps of the 5km course – you’ll enjoy additional obstacles). Think Total Wipeout with a dash of Ninja Warrior…

The distance between each obstacle is around 500-1000m on average, so you’ll need a reasonable level of fitness if you plan on running the whole way.

Kids'

A 1 mile course featuring a set of 10 challenging but child-friendly obstacles, built for adventure-seeking kids! It’s the perfect obstacle run for kids from 7-12 years old.

Great for a family day out, and to get young Rascals out and about, enjoying the outdoors, interacting with other kids and building their confidence. Not just that, but you’ll tire them out so you can relax a little!

Rascals Retreat

New for 2020, if you want leave your kids for an hour or two, you can drop them into the kids' zone, where qualified professionals will look after them whilst they enjoy an array of activities, such as Zorb balls, football, archery & dodgeball to name a few things.
