ABOUT THE EVENT
Our Try-a-Tri event is tailor-made for beginners, especially first-timers. With manageable "Swim-Bike-Run-MINI" distances and the combination of a heated-pool swim and fairly flat bike and run courses, the Sri Chinmoy Try-a-Tri is a great way to get a taste of the UK's fastest growing endurance sport.
First timers can take the plunge into Triathlon in a friendly, low-key & low-cost event where you can use pretty much any bike (from a triathlon/TT bike to a hybrid or mountain bike) and benefit from regular guidance as you prepare for the race (we send you frequent & regular emails with Q&A on training, equipment, transition & triathlon rules, so you know exactly what to expect on race day).
For 2024 the Try-a-Tri is part of our award-winning Swim-Bike-Run series in partnership with British Triathlon, at Tockington Manor School just north of Bristol. As well as having a wonderful 25m heated pool, Tockington Manor gives us access to a scenic bike route on mostly flat roads (many of which are designated cycle routes) and an easy run on the school sports field. SBR-Mini events are limited to around 50-80 entrants and have a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for first-timers, so if you want to try a tri for the first time, this event is for you. Think of it is as "like a park run but with swimming and cycling too" and that gives you a pretty good idea of what to expect.

Course Details
Swim - 200m - 8 lengths of Tockington Manor's lovely 25m indoor, heated pool. With only 4 in each lane at a time there is going to be plenty of space to swim at your own pace and we'll match people up in lanes with swimmers of similar speed to avoid too much overtaking. You can swim any frontal stroke - freestyle and breast-stroke are fine, but not backstroke. Nobody will judge your swim style, you just need to be able to complete the 8 lengths of 25m.
Bike - 10k - A varied route on minor roads without any climbs! Any type of bike, provided it's safe and roadworthy, can be used. Our course is 2 loops of 5km, with a total ascent of less than 50m across the whole course - that's pretty flat!
Run - 3k - An easy course, 4 laps of Tockington Manor sports pitches. It's pretty flat and you can't get lost.
What's Included

Youth entrants (anyone who will be aged 15+ at the end of the year in which the race takes place) are welcome, but the course is not suitable for younger triathletes (who are not permitted to compete on public roads).
