The Castle Run Series - Château de Chantilly
Chantilly, FranceChantilly, France
Sun 29th August 2021
COVID SAFETY PLAN
The safety of our community is our priority and we are always working (and adapting) our plans to ensure safe racing.
All our 2022 events will be run in line with government guidelines and, if required, we have plans in place to run them as socially distanced events.
We ran a very successful socially distanced event at Hever Castle in September 2020. If required, we have safety plans in place so that all events and all venues can be run as socially distanced events. If this is necessary, we keep our community informed and will be in touch with relevant athletes with detailed information.
Our decision making will be informed by announcements from and conversations with the following groups:
- Sporting governing bodies
To plan and run socially distanced events, we are guided by the following five principals:
- Education Communication
- Density Reduction
- Touch Point Reduction
- Athlete Self-Reliance
- Hygiene Emphasis
It is vital that as a community, we all take responsibility to keep each other safe whilst preparing and taking part our event weekends. We are grateful for your continued support and understanding.
We’re delighted that the 2021 Castle Run Series is going ahead and will make its yearly pilgrimage over the English Channel in August for the fifth race of the series.
Set over the UK bank holiday weekend and the end of August, the racing will take place in the spectacular and historic town of Chantilly, just a 2.5hrs drive from Calais and 40 miles north of Paris.

Health & Safety
We organised a hugely successful socially distanced event at Hever Castle in September 2020 for over 4000 participants and their supporters. This has given us, the Industry but most importantly our participants, the confidence to return to racing in 202!.
We want to reassure all participants that we’ll continue to work closely with Government, governing bodies, venues and suppliers to ensure that our 2021 events are run in accordance with current health and safety guidance.
Our increased health and safety measures cover 5 key principles of education: touch point reduction, density reduction, athlete self-reliance and enhanced hygiene.
Should we be required to put on a socially distanced event, participants will still get the full race experience but with individual rolling starts, 1 competitor every 10 seconds (sometimes greater), restricted time on site either side of your race and possible limit on spectators per athlete only.
We will prepare venue specific documents to send to all participants ahead of the event. These will include details on how to prepare pre-event, arrival timings and movements, swim, cycle, run, festival village and exit.
The Chateau de Chantilly 10K follows the same route as the Half Marathon but only requires the participants to complete one loop. 10K is achieved when the Finish Line is crossed in front of the Castle itself.
The Half Marathon and Marathon will see competitors undertake laps of a spectator friendly almost entirely off road 10.5K circuit. Starting in the formal gardens with the Chateau as a backdrop, competitors initially head off on the internal estate tracks towards Porte Vaillant, one of the main gates on the eastern edge of the estate.
The Chateau de Chantilly course offers the flattest of all the courses and the finishing straight, with the castle as a backdrop, leads all runners to the now famous finishing line banquet and a well deserved medal!
