How To Get There

There is very limited parking available for the Croydon Half Marathon, so we strongly advise runners to use public transport to get to the race.

East Croydon Railway Station is just over a mile away from Sandilands Club, so runners can access the race via bicycle or on foot. Alternatively, you can take buses 119, 194, 198 or 466 from East Croydon Station to the Ashburton Road Addiscombe stop and take a short walk to the club.

West Croydon is slightly further away from the race start, but is served by London Overground and Southern trains.

Runners can also use the Croydon tram service to Sandilands or Lloyd Park to get to the race.

Course Details

The route starts and finishes at Sandilands and follows a two lap route around the streets of Croydon. Please note there is a short initial lap followed by the two full laps so don’t be surprised if you see the finish line ahead of you after the first mile! The route has been accurately measured and carriers a certificate of course accuracy.

The route will be clearly marked using large route arrows, as well as being marshalled throughout. The route is run along the streets of Croydon and the roads will NOT be closed. On the main roads of the course you are required to run on the pavements. The race crosses a section of the Tram Link line and while we will have stewards on duty, it is your responsibility to be alert of any trams. At Oaks Road, should the red lights show you must stop.

First Aid

St John Ambulance will be in attendance on the day and the course will be marshalled to provide assistance. There will also be a sweep marshal following the race to ensure that nobody is left behind and that all runners are accounted for.

Really friendly and well organised race. After being too ill to run my planned half earlier in the month, I went in search of another half to run in a few weeks' time, and settled on the Croydon Half, knowing nothing about it. It was an easy train ride down from London (only a mile from East Croydon station), well organised from start to finish. It had a lovely local feel and I'd agree that the course was "undulating" - not flat, but not hilly either, and none of the hills were particularly steep. The course was largely two laps of suburban side streets and pavements with tons of friendly marshals. Two water stations meant there were four opportunities to pick up water (in full size bottles), and the bag drop was super quick and well organised, too. The medal is a custom design (really lovely), we got bananas and water at the end along with a tech tee. My only complaint is that the tee is heavily branded with the sponsor HUGE on the front with the race smaller on the back, so I'll likely never wear it. But overall a great, low key & friendly race that was great value for money.
