Organiser's Description

We have a full weekend of sport for you to experience. Get in a good training weekend before those big triathlons!

The cycle gives you three options to choose from - 47 miles, 82 miles or the Epic 102 miles. Each route takes in the very best of the New Forest, where you will encounter the famous free roaming wildlife. Horses, donkeys, pigs, deer and cows all roam in the New Forest so don’t be surprised if there are a few donkeys chilling out in the middle of the road.

Sunday is swim and run day! Swim in the beautiful Ellingham Lake, with three distances to chose from: 3.8km; 2.5km; 1.4km. The run element of the Weekender is a gorgeous run through the beautiful New Forest, part on the highway and part on trails.

The New Forest is a beautiful place enjoyed by local residents and visitors alike. Mutual respect and courtesy are essential to enable those with different interests to enjoy the Forest together. The please and abide by the The New Forest Cycling Code.

Lake Swim:

The Swim will take place at the stunning Ellingham Water Ski Lake. Ideal for the experienced swimmer looking for a quick time or those training for long distance triathlons, and also perfect for those getting into open water swimmer.

Do not swim if you have an open wound, feel unwell or are recovering from a virus or infection, as your immune system may not be strong enough to ward off infections. In the event of illness after swimming, medical advice and treatment should be sought from your GP.

Wetsuits are compulsory unless the water temperature is over 22 degrees. Neoprene hoods & booties allowed.

The Bike:

The New Forest offers some great cycling and some spectacular scenery. There are sections with long open straights that are truly exhilarating, some punchy hills, and also some longer gradual climbs. The maximum gradient is at Blissford hill near the end of each route where you will encounter a 25% climb. This is a short sharp climb that looks like a wall as you approach it.

The routes have been designed to encounter as little traffic as possible, and there are minimal miles on bigger roads. In places, the routes narrow to single lanes and extra care will need to be taken on these sections. Riders will also need to be extremely careful when passing any of the livestock that resides in this wonderful part of the country. Horses, in particular, tend to get easily spooked by passing cyclists, so please take care while enjoying what has become a favourite fixture in many people’s cycling calendar.

The 102 mile epic route offers the more experienced sportive rider a fantastic challenge, and completely showcases the fantastic New Forest National Park. Be warned though – the last 20 miles of the epic route are the hilliest!

The Run

A gorgeous run through the beautiful New Forest, part on the highway and part on trails, designed for enjoyment and personal achievement.

We will have a rolling start of small numbers as the road is open and we want to minimise the impact on local people.

Marshalling is a super fun day out! You can really make a huge difference to the enjoyment of the participants!
