Trail running retreat | Olympus National Park, Greece
Trail Running Retreat | Olympus National Park, Greece
A UNESCO biosphere location the Olympus National Park was the first in Greece. There is a good reason for this, not only its mythological connections but its pure beauty and some rare flora and fauna to boot. Explore the mythical and spectacular national park and the surroundings. From sky-reaching high peaks to the diverse and lush forest we traverse through this magical landscape at a runners pace, enjoying each step as we go.
Local town Litochoro sits at the foothills and provides a cultural pit-stop and base for the trail running retreat. You may have visited Greece before, but not like this.
It's another natural beauty that only compliments its renowned beaches and islands. It's not to be overlooked.

During these unprecedented times, we wanted to let all our Nomadic Runners how important it is for us and the global community to stay safe and look after one another. This is our number one priority to ensure not only our community but those in place we travel remain safe. We appreciate that many people face challenges now and many more will in the future. We are all in this together. We are doing all we can to ensure that our customers are well taken care of in the spirit of the trail running community.
As you are aware the situation is changing daily across the globe with various countries taking different strategies to deal in a manner they feel best. We are closely watching the situation and take advise from the leading governing bodies, the main one being UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) . This will ultimately govern if a trip will go ahead or not. If at the time of final payment (8 weeks before departure) the FCO is still advising against travel to the destination of the trip we will have no choice but to postpone.
We appreciate that this throws many balls in the air for you and are working hard behind the scenes with our local guides and suppliers to ensure this has as little impact on you as possible, whilst giving you the greatest amount of flexibility. Here's what we're doing:
Contacting each individual directly who's trip is likely to be affected
If you have already booked on a trail running retreat or adventure then we will contact you directly to explain the situation and the options available.
Fully refundable deposits
In the event that a trip is cancelled due to Covid-19 then the initial deposit paid shall be fully refundable. For now, we are utilising this option until the end of 2020 after which we will revert back to our standard terms and conditions. Our hope is that by this time we will have a clear picture going forward into 2021 and can make an informed decision about a future direction.
We are allowing for any customers who have booked on a retreat or adventure to reallocate this to a future trip. This means a like for like swap is available in case you decide on a different destination. There will of course be:
- no additional fees
- no price change from what it was at the time of booking
- still have a trail running adventure in the diary to look forward to
Booking will be held indefinitely
Any bookings will be held indefinitely, this means you don't have a time limit on rescheduling your trip. We understand that there is a lot of flux at the minute so don't want to hamper this any further. With new dates and destination in 2021, we hope that this is something to look forward to and a future date can be rescheduled. If this does not work for you then the cancellation terms at the time of booking will apply.
We're adding more dates
We are increasing our offering for 2021, meaning more great destination and more choice for our guests. In addition to this, we are adding more UK specific dates and once travel restriction lapse some more UK day trips.
Keeping you updated
We'll continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis and update this page accordingly. We will, of course, reach out to those affected at the point in which we know more.

Arrive at the guesthouse meet the team and other guests over an evening meal in local restaurant. Return to the guesthouse and pack for the following days adventure.
Wake early to breakfast at the guesthouse. Final kit check warm up and stretch, then were off. First a short transfer (20mins) to the trailhead where we then tackle the majority of the days ascent in one go. This section is most definitely a hike but the reward is high with us gaining in elevation and amazing panoramic views that come with it. As we descend from the highs of the day we reach our food and board for the night, a typical mountain refuge provides comfortable but basic accommodation. Here we get to enjoy the views, sit back and unwind below the towering peaks of the Olympus National Park. The onsite restaurant provides local food for refreshment and refuelling at dinner.
After breakfast and a warm up we head out for the day that is through picturesque woodlands before reaching the valley and leading us back to Litochoro. We are less exposed on the ridge-lines today and generally heading in a downward trajectory. We return to our guesthouse for a well earned shower and beer. W have the afternoon to relax and unwind around the old town. With the beach only 6km away this is also an option or just rest up ahead of the evening meal together at another local restaurant.
A quick stretch and easy morning run (45min) will set you up for your journey - or treat yourself to a extra hour or two in bed. The team and guests share breakfast before heading off.
