Wild Christmas Charity Run

Aldbury, Hertfordshire

Aldbury, UK

Sun 13th December 2020

Starting at 09:30

4 races

£10.00 - £50.00

Organiser's Description

Run the Wild are as passionate about running as we are about our local area, the beautiful Chilterns. We are always looking at ways to give back, whether via plogging (collecting rubbish as we run), or charitable events. This will be the second Wild Christmas Run, with profits going to charity! For 2020 we are pleased to announce that this year's charity will be The Hospice of St Francis.

We want to make this run as inclusive as we can, and we are encouraging runners to bring along other family members (this includes children and dogs!) by offering two distances and also a family ticket. The run will have two distances that you can choose from, a beautiful trail run of around 8km, and also a great 3km loop. Our Run Leaders will be providing trail running tips and environmental info along the way.

Prize for best fancy dress will be awarded at the finish! (fancy dress is optional)

How To Get There

You will need to arrange your own transport to the start of the adventure in Aldbury, but there are regular trains from London Euston to Tring Station which take around 40 minutes and is only a short walk to the meeting point. There is also an onsite free car park should you prefer to drive. Accommodation is available nearby, please get in touch if you would like any recommendations.

Timing & Location

The event will start at 9.30am, at the Musette's, Aldbury, based in the quintessentially English village of Aldbury, which has free parking and is walking distance from Tring Station with direct train connections to London Euston. The event will finish around 11am (full details in your booking pack).

We will end the run back at the cafe for mince pies! Musettes is dog friendly, but please be respectful, not everyone loves excitable muddy dogs as much as we do!

Ability

All abilities are catered for, so whether you are a new to trail running, or a veteran you're in good hands. This is a fun event, and a great opportunity to give back, so we really appreciate your support.

As with all Run the Wild events, it's a team event so you will be grouped with similar ability runners and led by one of our experienced Run Leaders. We walk anything too steep and it's a good opportunity to get some trail running tips along the way. First time trail runners welcome! Experienced ones are too as all of our guides will be out on the trails!

We welcome any age children under 16yrs, as long as they are running with an accompanying adult. You can even bring your 4-legged friend, we just ask that all dogs are run in canicross equipment only, and are kept on lead at all times. We also have only a limited number of places for dogs, so please do let us know in the message section of the booking form that you would like to bring a dog. We will not accept dogs being run with a lead attached to their collar (if you have any questions on this, please drop us an email and our resident canicrossers can suggest equipment providers, and even places to try out kit).

Location

We will start the run at the Musette Cafe, based in the quintessentially English village of Aldbury. We will end the run back at the cafe for mince pies! Musettes is dog friendly, but please be respectful, not everyone loves excitable muddy dogs as much as we do!
