Winter 10k Buildup Series - Race 3
Join us this winter for a pre-breakfast guided trail run through the beautiful woods and open ridgelines of the Chiltern Hills! Along the way you will learn trail running techniques and explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, famous for its use in filming locations.
All abilities are catered for, but this series is particularly aimed at those wishing to build up to running a 10km on trails, starting with a 6km event in January. It's perfect for those who are maybe new to trail running; would like to be inspired in those winter months; reach a 10km goal; improve fitness; or indeed would like to meet other like minded runners. As with all Run the Wild events, it's a team event so you will be grouped with similar ability runners and led by one of our experienced Run Leaders who will route find and set the pace for you. We walk anything too steep and it's a good opportunity to get some trail running tips from our leaders along the way.
We will start each run at the Musette Cafe, based in the quintessentially English village of Aldbury. All our guides are local UKA Coaches, and when not running can be seen sipping coffee at Musette's. We will end the run back at the cafe which is a great place to get a post run coffee, smoothie or a freshly cooked trail runners' breakfast!
The event is easily accessible, just 40 minutes North West of London by rail or road and there is free on-site parking for all runners.

Trail running instruction
A supportive and great way to improve fitness and complete a 10km trail run
You will need to arrange your own transport to the start of the adventure in Aldbury, but there are regular trains from London Euston to Tring Station which take around 40 minutes and is only a short walk to the meeting point. There is also an onsite free car park should you prefer to drive. Accommodation is available nearby, please get in touch if you would like any recommendations.
This series is aimed at those would like to buildup their fitness over 3 months in order to complete a 10km. Each event is slightly longer than the previous, starting with the first event in January at 6km and ending with a 10km in March. It follows on from the 'Couch to 5km program', but is great for all runners who want to get out on the trails in the winter months. It's a great way to get fit, be inpsired by like minded runners and also get top tips and instruction from our Lead Runners.
We will cater for the following paces: 5-7km and 8-11km an hour on the flat or road. The event is inclusive to new runners and also those who are regularly out on the trails. We will group participants by their ability but you need to have run 5km in the past (doesn't need to have been a race time). The Lead Runner for your group will route find and as all with our running adventures you will be expected to run as part of the team. First time trail runners welcome!
The event will start at 8.30am, at the Musette's, Aldbury which has free parking and is walking distance from Tring Station with direct train connections to London Euston. The event will finish before 10am (full details in your booking pack).
