Every race starts with a goal. At IRONMAN California, our goal is to make you go fast on every course you encounter. We want you to feel the acceleration from a downriver swim, embrace the power on an ultra-flat bike course and be inspired from the crowds of cheering spectators. Because at the end of the day, we’re all out here for the same reason: to reach our potential by breaking our own barriers.

Swim
IRONMAN California features a downriver swim with athletes starting in the American River near Township 9 Park. The 2.4 mile swim course is a point to point into the Sacramento River and exiting near the famous Tower Bridge.
Bike
The IRONMAN California bike course is a flat and fast, two-loop tour of the beautiful farm and wine country. The Sacramento River delta region, athletes will tour what makes Sacramento the farm to fork city, which will showcase the great agricultural region of the Central Valley. Athletes will be able to test their fitness and break their best on this flat bike course.
Run
The IRONMAN California Run course consists of a flat and fast course in two unique and exciting segments. You will start with a beautiful run along the Sacramento River and into Discovery Park for a tree lined paved trail out and back. This section is approximately the first half of the run. Then you will run into beautiful downtown Sacramento where you will do 2 finishing laps around the California State Capitol building and gardens, along with some scenic city scenery, and another peak at the Sacramento River. This course provides a little bit of everything along a very FLAT 26.2 mile course, with great spectator exposure over the last half of the race to bring you that needed finishing energy.
