CourseThis is a gorgeous course that we only have access to once a year—at the Pine Run. It's a challenging route on undulating, grassy trails and double track jeep roads through beautiful piney uplands and Lake Iamonia bottomland. There are some tough hills, but you'll be rewarded for your climb with stunning views of wildflowers, the lake, and miles of pine forests.
A course map is shown below. For for a 20K run through a large forest, a "point-by-point" view just isn't possible, but the map can give a general sense, and here are some additional details:
The course starts and ends at the Beadel House, running counter-clockwise in an oblong twisted circle. The course is liberally marked with pink flags (and where needed, we have directional signs and volunteers). The TWO out-and-backs each go out about 3/4ths of a mile. The first starts around Mile 5.0 and the second starts around Mile 8.30. There are water stations at the end of each one.You arrive back near the Beadel House for the first time at about Mile 10.80—but you still have a ways to go (about 1.6), starting with the "The Horseshoe" that takes you briefly toward the Van Brunt Arm of Lake Iamonia before sending you back up a hill that you will remember. Shortly after hitting Mile 12.0, you reemerge from the forest and take a left on the main gravel road (where you started 12 short miles ago). You finish at the Beadel house shortly thereafter, giving you lifetime bragging rights as a PINE RUN FINISHER!
