Organiser's Description
Suicide is the SECOND leading cause of death for ages 10-24. More teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease, COMBINED.
On Dec 26, 2018 this unfortunate statistic affected Adam Holten, his family, extended family, friends and the community. We lost a very good person to suicide. Adam affected many people’s lives with his presence, his smile, his laughter, his handshakes and his ability to reach out and lift other people up.
Since his passing we have created a non profit organization: Strides for Adam. We are coordinating a 5K race to continue his legacy of service to others and keep his memory alive.
Join us In-person in 2023 for the 4th annual Strides for Adam 5k run, walk and 1 mile reflection walk. We are also offering a virtual event for those that are unable to participate in-person.
Pricing:
Early registration is $30 for those over age 18, through March 12, price goes up to $35 after this date. $40 on Race Day (no paper registrations)
Early registration is $25 for those ages 18 and under, through March 12, price goes up to $30 through March 25. $35 on Race Day (no paper registrations)
Groups of 3 or more who register at the same time get $5 off of each registration
Finisher medals and available sized t-shirts to the first 500 people.

Age group awards for the 5k Run: 1st place Winner of each age group earns a custom made medal from Gabriel Richard Catholic High School, 2nd and 3rd place receive a plaque. Age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
Award ceremony will be held at 10:00 am following the race
*Please note awards are for the in-person 5k RUN event only. The 5k walk and 1 mile walk do not have awards. Virtual participants are not eligible for awards.
Results will be live during the event and posted on the Run Signup page.
Packet Pick up.
Early pick up: If you registered BEFORE Wednesday 3/22 your packet can be picked up on either, Thursday, March 23th or Friday the 24th from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at Total Runner 15625 Dix Toledo Rd., Southgate, MI 48195
Day of the race starting at 7:30 am at Riverview Community Center, 14300 Library Dr, Riverview, MI 48193
* Please note if you register on Wednesday 3/22 OR AFTER your packet will ONLY be available on race day morning. Your packet will NOT be available at Total Runner.
Virtual Strides For Adam: If you can't make the race and still want to participate sign up for the virtual race and we will mail out a shirt and medal to you! We will send out packets to you the week of March 27th. Run your virtual race any time from March 19th to 26th. Cost is the same as the in-person event and includes shipping. There are no awards for the virtual event, however you can enter your results after your complete your run/walk. Results can be entered HERE.
The race is professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation.
