Which items go in a backpack? Toque, mitts, scarf, socks, toiletries, feminine hygiene & a $5 coffee card.
2. Can I donate used items? Yes
3. Do I have to fill a backpack, I have lots of socks to donate? No, you can donate individual items as well. Everything gets sorted and organized before it’s handed out.
4. I want to help out as much as I can. Can I donate more than 1 backpack or additional items? ABSOLUTELY!!
5. How can I get my community/school/workplace involved? Ask for help from family, friends, coworkers. Start your own donation drive (all you need is a box & a sign) and collect from your social circle and then donate it all to Warm Hands Warm Hearts Run before November 14th. Please contact Bri Botsford (admin@flowyeg.ca) for LARGE DONATIONS.
6. How are these items distributed to vulnerable individuals? Dedicated volunteers sort, organize and pack the bags. They are then handed out to the vulnerable and houseless population in the inner city.
7. Will I (participant) be handing out backpacks in 2026? For everyone’s safety we will not have WHWH participants interacting with the vulnerable population.
8. How can I support this event? We are having a 10k & 21k trail race as well as a family friendly 5km run/ walk and in Edmonton November 14th (by registration only) for those wanting to get involved with physical activity. Get friends and family, or coworkers involved by starting a team and you can run or walk all get together.9. Is there a way to make an additional donation besides my registration fee?Yes you can purchase a prestuffed backpack at the time of registration and those dollars will be used to purchase all the required items to fill a backpack.
10. When is the cutoff for donations? The last day to donate online is Thursday, November 11th, 2026
11. Where can I drop off donations? you can bring your donations to the race or we have different drop off locations listed on our website www.warmhandswarmhearts.caFlow Functional health centre 6915 109st Edmonton will be the main donation drop point. Visit the website for more locations to drop off your donations by November 16th, 2026.
12. Where do my registration dollars go? Your registration money goes into buying new goods to fill backpacks whether it be mittens, scarves, coffee cards whatever is needed at the end to ensure each bag gets the same items.
