Join us on Saturday, October 4th, 2025 for the 2025 UniversalCare Strides for Seniors event to support our seniors and promote health and happiness at every stage in life. The family-friendly event features a 5km and 2.5km route throughout North Maple Regional Park and offers a fun-filled day that will be much more than just a run in the park. From scenic routes, food trucks, and entertainment to awesome participant swag, activities for all ages and a few fun surprises, this a day you won’t want to miss.In 2024, we achieved a remarkable milestone, securing over $1.63 million through the generosity of our legacy donors and the 2024 UniversalCare Strides for Seniors. In 4 years, UniversalCare Strides for Seniors has raised $3.163 Million NET for senior-centric programs in York, Toronto and Peel Region. This year, our 2025 Strides for Seniors fundraising goal is $500k, which will go toward our $3.6 million campaign goal that will fund the purchase, renovation and maintenance of a home that will be converted into an accessible Residential Respite Dementia Care Centre. Through this initiative, this unique residential setting will offer individuals living with dementia and other related diseases the opportunity to be cared for a short period of time. This home and its staff will help provide vital support, companionship, and resources to enhance the lives of seniors and their families in our community.The program is designed for those who are currently living at home but need short-term support, in a safe and accessible setting. This will greatly benefit the caregiver as it will reduce caregiver burnout and/or provide the opportunity for them to recharge.We are thrilled to announce that we have chosen CHATS Community & Home Assistance to Seniors as our official charity partner. CHATS is a not-for-profit organization, advocating for and delivering high-quality, person-centred home and community services to older adults and caregivers living in York Region and South Simcoe. CHATS will provide all the care and services portion for the Residential Care Centre through government funding, fundraising activities and affordable co-payment. Join us on October 4th at the 2025 UniversalCare Strides for Seniors Walk/Run. Your participation and fundraising will have a positive impact on the lives of those who need a Residential Respite Dementia Care Centre, providing them with a safe, state-of-the-art, and home-like environment with round-the-clock care.
