Get ready for an unforgettable celebration at the 2026 Beaver Flat 50, taking place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, in the picturesque Stewart Valley, Saskatchewan! This year marks a special milestone as we celebrate our 10-year anniversary, and we’re inviting runners of all ages and abilities to join in on the fun. Participants can choose from a variety of thrilling race distances, including the challenging Beaver Flat 50 (with a stunning elevation gain of 2255m), the Dam Hard 20 (700m elevation gain), the Beaver Fever 10 (420m elevation gain), and the Horseshoe Hustle 5 (150m elevation gain). There’s even a Kids Fun Run, making it a perfect family event!

But that’s not all! We’re reviving the beloved Flaming Unicorn tradition, where runners can embrace their adventurous spirit under the stars. This informal night run begins at 8:30 p.m. and promises to be more of a party than a race, as participants navigate the trails with headlamps and good vibes. With a fantastic aid station stocked with snacks and live music from Windsor Knot, it’s set to be a night to remember. Don’t miss out on this unique celebration of community

Organiser's Description

It's our 10-year anniversary! The Beaver Flat 50 is a race that will leave you begging for less. We are running the Beaver Flat 50 in the traditional sense, as we have been for the past 9-years. However, to celebrate our 10-year anniversary, we will be reviving the Flaming Unicorn. This means that we are offering the usual race distances (all distances in KMs):Beaver Flat 50 (2255m elevation gain)Dam Hard 20 (700m of elevation gain)Beaver Fever 10 (420m of elevation gain)Horseshoe Hustle 5 (150m of elevation gain)Kids Fun Run (1km)And then there's the Flaming Unicorn - You may be wondering: what is a flaming unicorn? The Flaming Unicorn is a BFF tradition that started in year two or three, when someone suggested we throw on our headlamps after the festivities had wrapped up and see if we could run to the top of the Horseshoe without falling into a cactus bush. I don’t know who said it, but someone pointed out that our headlamps made us look like flaming unicorns running up the ridge. And just like that, the Flaming Unicorn was born. It didn’t last long. But good lord was it fun!In 2026, to commemorate all the traditions and stories that have grown out of this event, we’re bringing it back. Rain or shine, every runner, volunteer, spectator, and anyone else who wants in is invited. And no, we’re not just running to the top of the Horseshoe. This is going to be so fun you’re going to want to experience at least a full 10 km of the party. The Flaming Unicorn will begin at 8:30 p.m. This will not be a timed event — it’s more party than race — but we’re aiming to have everyone back by 10:30 p.m. The route will follow the Beaver Fever 10 course.Windsor Knot will be bumping. Expect a full-on aid station party with snacks, hugs, and maybe even a little you and me go fishing in the dark. If you want to be part of the Flaming Unicorn but the night run isn’t your thing, consider joining the Flaming Unicorn volunteer team instead. We’ll also need at least two course sweepers to make sure all unicorns arrive back at the finish line safely.General RegistrationOpens: January 10, 2026 at 7:00am CSTCloses: August 31, 2026 at 12:00pm CSTRefund Breakdown Full refund: January 10, 2026 to April 30, 202650% refund: May 1, 2026 to June 30, 2026No refund: July 1, 2026 to September 19, 2026Runners are responsible for all processing fees related to refunds and transfersTransfersTransfer distance to distance as long as the event that you’re transferring to is not full until September 1, 2026 (you are responsible for this in Race Roster; race directors will not facilitate transfers)You can transfer your bib to another runner, but you must do so through Race Roster.
