This 117 km race will begin in the beautiful lakeside community of Calling Lake, Alberta located 60 km north of Athabasca. This is a 12 leg relay race with distances of 1 - 18 km and suitable for both walkers and runners.The race will begin at 6:30 am from Jeremy Nipshank Park and the first leg will make its way through Calling Lake and will continue to Highway 813. You will then head north into the heart of the Northern Boreal Forest , with beautiful scenery, ponds, creeks with various elevation changes reaching 742 m at Rock Island Hill.The course will lead you through Sandy Lake (Sakitawaasihk) where you will run along another beautiful lake and back out onto Highway 813. Continuing North and will access township road 800A for your last 2 sections which run along South Wabasca Lake entering Bigstone Cree Nation, (Reserve 166A).The race ends at the George D Auger Hall and will be followed by a BBQ, entertainment and awards ceremony.Force start will occur for slower teams to complete the course in 11.5 hours. If your predicted overall time is over 11.5 hours, we may have to do some simultaneous forced starts.You are not required to submit your full team roster upon registration, just the team captain needs to register initially.
