Update*** May 07, 2025Participation medals will be given to everyone including children. This year The Run Parlour in Clinton has donated $1000.00 towards prize money for our 15th year anniversary for the top runners for male and female in the 1/2, 10k, and 5k. Prizes will be... 1/2 marathon 1st place $300.00, 10k 1st $200.00, 5k 1st will be a new pair of New Balance shoes of the winner's choice (not including carbon shoes).Age category winners will be presented with medals this year.Our fundraising co-ordinators Diana and Dave, have been very busy this year seeking donations from local merchants. They have received a total of 23 participant prizes. Winners will be drawn before pre-registration, so when participants check in, they will be told if they won a prize and can collect at that time. Only one prize per person can be won. The bicycle draw will be announced at the end of the medal ceremony. You must be present to win the bike. Have a good run.
1/2 MARATHON UPDATE: We have a new route for 2025 while construction is being completed on the bridge. It has been measured out but is not a CERTIFIED 21k. Please see the map below.UPDATE...Race Kit pick-up will be Saturday, May 17, 2025 11:30am - 1:30pm and Sunday, May 18, 2025, starting at 07:00h at The Goderich Legion 56 Kingston Street Goderich downstairs. We have lots of draw prizes for the runners and will also have a NEW bicycle available to win for participants. Thank you to 360 Bikes n' Boards for donating a bike again this year. Participants will start on The Square and head counterclockwise around the square, turning right on North Street. Follow North Street and turn right/east on Gloucester Terrace, then left on Victoria Street North/Highway #21. Runners will stay on the west side of Hwy #21 continuing down the hill, turning left/west onto Tiger Dunlop Road. Head north on Tiger Dunlop Rd to the “switchback” trail, follow the switch back to Tiger Dunlop Tomb and make an immediate right hand turn onto the G2G trail. Continue on the G2G trail to the turnaround point (roughly 0.5 km beyond the 8 km kilometre post). Runners will then reverse the route until they get back to the Goderich Square. Once they are on the Square again, turn right and run counterclockwise to West Street. The remainder of the 21 km route is the same as the 5 and 10 km route. PLEASE NOTE *** If you are signing up for the 1/2 Marathon......Due to construction in Goderich on the RAIL TRAIL, the 1/2 marathon is NOT a CERTIFIED route. It will commence next year when construction is completed. Non-certified means it is not measured out by Athletics Canada to be deemed a true 1/2 marathon. We apologize for any inconvenienceWalk/Run fundraiser for life saving defibrillators in the name of fallen police, fire, paramedic, and military. The Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund is a fund set up in memory of Dave Mounsey, an OPP Officer, who lost his life in the line of duty. This fund raises money that goes directly towards the purchase of defibrillators. In 2024, 27 defibrillators were donated throughout the year, reaching a total of 203. 7 lives have been confirmed saved by the Fund's donations; and so many women and men remembered, we look forward to our 2025 year which will be our 15th year of The Run Around The Square.If your child would like to take part in the run/walk, there is no fee, and no need to register. THE YMCA sponsors the run for the kids, and will have a table on the square before the kid’s run informing the kids about the race. There will be a brief warm-up at 08:15h and the kid’s race will take place at 08:30h, completing one lap of the square. Medals will be given to all participants in the kid’s race. Anyone who would like to fundraise for the Run Around the Square is encouraged to do so. This can be done on Race Roster. Any registrant who raises $150.00 or more towards the run will receive a complimentary DMMF blanket.
