Join us for an inspiring day at Jonesy’s Run on Saturday, July 12, 2025, in beautiful Tecumseh, Essex! This uplifting 5K run/walk honors the memory of Bob Jones, a beloved former assistant coach for the Ottawa Senators, who bravely battled ALS. The event aims to raise awareness and funds for The ALS Society of Windsor-Essex County, supporting those affected by this challenging disease and advancing research for a cure.

The day kicks off with a casual Meet & Greet featuring local hockey players from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM, creating a fantastic atmosphere for participants and fans alike. The 5K route consists of three laps around the scenic paved trail at Lakewood Park South, with staggered start times for runners and walkers to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. In addition to the main event, kids can join in the fun with the Ace's 200m Kids Dash and Bomber's Kilometre Kids Run.

Jonesy’s Run is a 5K run/walk in honour of Windsor’s Bob Jones, a former assistant coach for the Ottawa Senators, who passed away from of ALS on July 26, 2024 at the age of 54. Bob became a vocal advocate for ALS research awareness after his diagnosis in 2022.ALS or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing loss of muscle control.All proceeds from this annual event will benefit The ALS Society of Windsor-Essex County, assisting persons living with ALS and their families while contributing to research that leads to a cure. Join us on the paved trail at Tecumseh’s Lakewood Park South on Saturday, July 12 to remember and celebrate Bob Jones! Registration will be limited to 400 persons. The 5K route will be 3 full laps around the park’s paved outer trail. Runners and walkers will start at different times due to the narrow path.In cooperation with the Windsor Spitfires, there will be a casual Meet & Greet from 8:00am-9:00am with some local players before the event. You must be registered for this event to participate in the Meet & Greet.Currently scheduled to attend or participate...Colton Smith (Leamington Flyers, Clarkson University), Matt Maggio (New York Islanders), Logan Mailloux (St. Louis Blues), Noah Morneau (former Windsor Spitfire, now attending Bowling Green State University), Carson Woodall (current Windsor Spitfires player), Zack Kassian (retired Edmonton Oilers player and current pro scout), Mike Weber (current Assistant Coach, St. Louis Blues), and Eric Wellwood (current Assistant Coach, Toronto Marlies AHL).Post-race hospitality will be held on site after each event with the addition optional Adult Hospitality at Johnny Shotz (13037 Tecumseh Rd E, Tecumseh). Your registration fee allows you entry to this event. If you would like to attend and did not participate in the run/walk, admission, payable at the door, is only $25. All proceeds from this Adult Hospitality event will also be going to The ALS Society of Windsor-Essex County.Your registration for the event also puts you in the draw to possibly win a watch from Precision Jewellers, a signed Ottawa Senators Team jersey, or a signed Toronto Maple Leafs jersey. Draw to be held at Johnny Shotz after the event.We will have awards for top 3 male & female plus 1st in each 10 year age category kindly supplied by The Windsor Spitfires!Please Note: parking is limited at Lakewood Park.
