Each leg of the relay spans approximately 5-8 kilometers, with a combination of varying difficulties, including at least one challenging hilly route.
Participants will start at Freddy's Brewpub at 10:30 AM after picking up their race packages, which include maps of the secret route. Runners will enjoy a cold beer at each pub along the way, making this not just a race, but a social adventure! With prizes awarded for best costumes and other surprise categories, plus post-race food and celebrations, the Pub Relay promises an unforgettable experience for all involved. Organiser's Description
Welcome to the Kelowna Running Club Pub Relay! This annual event invites runners to team up and don their finest costumes in a race throughout the city, with plenty of fun to be had along the way! Each year, groups of 6 runners compete in a race between some of the finest pubs and breweries that Kelowna has to offer. We have plenty of prizes thanks to our local sponsors and many of these are given out just to those that show up! We have additional prizes for best costumes as well as a few other surprise categories! In addition, any proceeds from the race will be donated to a local charity.
How it works:On the morning of the event, meet your team at our starting location and receive your race package. Included inside are the maps of the 6 legs of the route (a secret until the day of the race!). Each leg ends at a different pub and you are not done with your leg until you arrive and have finished a beer (provided by our volunteers at each location). Once your beer is down, the next runner in your team is allowed to set off to complete their leg. This continues until all 6 of you have run and you have arrived back at our start location, where there will be food and the celebrations and awards can continue!
The route will take teams across the city, stopping off at some of our best pubs, breweries and bars along the way. The legs will be of varying difficulty (expect at least one hilly leg!) and length but will generally be around 5-8km. You could even sign up solo if you're crazy enough to tackle the whole thing by yourself!
The relay will end with everyone together at our finish location where there will be food, more refreshments, prizes, and the awards ceremony.

Results, awards and presentations are anticipated to be held around 3:00 pm and we expect everything to be done around 4:00 pm.

Further Details:Prior to the event, team captains will receive an email with brief outlines of the 6 relay legs for team members to pick from. Detailed maps will not be provided until you pick up your race kit on race day! Team waiver forms MUST BE COMPLETED before the start and will be included in your race package on race day. All teams start together. This is not a race of speed, but if you are fast, we may have engineered some dastardly challenges along the way to slow you down and allow others to catch up! :) Team captains are responsible for organizing their teams and for passing on information. Race Day - All teams will meet at starting location Freddy's Brewpub, between 9:15 and 10:15 am to pick up their race package envelope. The envelope will contain your team bib numbers, detailed maps and information about the relay route, the host pubs, pub relay sponsors, and other goodies.What is included?- Two beers per runner (one for each leg and one at the finish)- Food for your team at the finish- A prize for every participant.
