Get ready for an exciting day of community spirit and active fun at the Second Annual Rosy Rhubarb Walk and Run on Sunday, June 8, 2025, in beautiful Southwold, Elgin! This vibrant event invites participants of all ages to take part in a variety of race distances, including a 10km run, a 5km walk or run, and a special 1km Fun Run for kids aged 12 and under. With finisher medals awarded to all participants, it’s a fantastic opportunity to celebrate fitness and camaraderie.
The day kicks off bright and early with registration and bib pick-up from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM, followed by a warm-up session before the races begin. The 10km runners will take off at 9:00 AM, followed by the 5km participants at 9:10 AM. After the main events, the 1km Fun Run for kids will commence around 10:30 AM. Be sure to arrive early, as road closures will be in effect for the safety of all runners. Whether you’re looking to compete or just enjoy the atmosphere, the Rosy Rhubarb Walk and Run promises to be a fun-filled day

The Fingal/Shedden Optimist is hosting their Second Annual Rosy Rhubarb Walk and/or Run on Sunday June 8, 2025, in celebration and support of events in our community. You can register for the 5km Run or Walk or you can register for the 10km run. Kids 12 and under can register for the 1km Fun Run!! Finisher medals for all participants.Run Map: Parking : Please park at the soccer fields located at 9210 Union road Shedden . Because of current construction you can only access Corsley park off union road South of the fields. If coming from St Thomas on highway 3 / London please take John Wise Line - Fingal line - Union road.It’s imperative that those participating in the 5km run or walk, and the 10km run have completed their registration and check in by 8:30am as roads will start to close. Registration for the kids 1km fun run will begin around 10:45am (registration between 10:15am and 10:30am) when the 5km and 10km is complete. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT UNION ROAD WILL BE CLOSED (FROM THE SOUTH) FROM 8:45 UNTIL 11:00 (OR UNTIL THE LAST RUNNER/WALKER CROSSES THE FINISH LINE). THE SECONDARY ROAD CLOSURE IS FROM TALBOT LINE (HIGHWAY 3) AT UNION ROAD HEADING SOUTH. THIS ROAD CLOSURE IS DUE TO CONSTRUCTION AND PERMANENT AND WILL NOT OPEN.ANY PARTICIPANT WHO IS DELAYED IN ARRIVING FOR ANY RACE DISTANCE IS ASKED TO ENTER VIA HIGHWAY 3 AT THE KEYSTONE COMPLEX AND PARK AT THE VERY BACK BY THE BARNS AND THEN WALK THE TRAIL TO THE START LINE.
