This inaugural event is not just a race; it's a heartfelt tribute to Jaida Chartier, a brave young girl who fought against childhood cancer. The 5K race will kick off at approximately 10am, with registration starting at 8am. Participants can choose to walk or run this scenic course that winds around Sadler's Pond and along the ERCA trail, making it a perfect outing for both competitive runners and families alike.

As you gear up for this uplifting day, enjoy complimentary snacks, coffee, and water before the race, with delicious pizza waiting for you after you cross the finish line. Medals will be awarded to top finishers in both men’s and women’s categories, celebrating their achievements while supporting a noble cause. The Grey 5K aims to raise funds for pediatric brain cancer research, continuing Jaida's legacy in the fight against childhood cancer. Let's come together to honor Jaida and ensure her spirit lives on in our collective effort to support our littlest heroes!

***UPDATE - RACE DETAILS***
With The Grey 5K coming up, we wanted to release some details regarding the day.

Registration will begin at 8am - you will be able to pick up your race shirt at this time and hand in any donations you may have collected.

The 5K is set to start as close to 10am as possible. Race course is below beginning at the ERCA trail entrance off St. Thomas, wrapping around Sadler's Pond back to the ERCA trail, continuing over South Talbot along the ERCA trail to Victoria Avenue and then back following the same route.

Parking is available along Victoria Avenue, the parking lot off St. Thomas at ERCA Trail and Keown St at Sadler's Park and Trail. There is also a public parking lot at Victoria and Alice St. beside the fire hall.

There will be snacks, coffee and water available prior to the event and pizza provided following the event.

There will be 1st place medals awarded to the top finishers for both the Men and Women walk and run events.

We look forward to seeing you all and thank you for your support in continuing Jaida's fight against Childhood Cancer while remembering our beautiful angel!The Inaugural Grey 5K will be held May 31, 2025 in the Town of Essex at Sadler's Nature Park and Trail in support of #JaidasJourney - The Jaida Chartier Foundation.Jaida Chartier was a 12-year old Essex resident who bravely fought Diffuse Midline Glioma with H3K27 mutation Brain Cancer for 14-months before peacefully passing away July 31, 2024.In keeping with a promise made to Jaida by Jaida's parents to pay it forward while continuing Jaida's fight against Childhood Cancer, this 5K Run/Walk will raise money to fund Childhood Cancer research, specifically, Pediatric Brain Cancer.The month of May is significant, as it commemorates Brain Tumour/Cancer month which is symbolized with the Grey Cancer Ribbon. Further, on May 31st, 2023, Jaida's battle began when she was airlifted from Windsor Regional Hospital -Ouellette Campus to London Children's Hospital.Let's come together to show our continued support of our Hero Jaida. Let's show her that she will never be forgotten and we will continue her battle to find a cure for our littlest heroes!Registration fee includes custom T-shirt! You can register to walk or run the 5K!
