The Valley Vertikiller is a challenging trail race offering 10K, 20k, and 30K distances. The 30K is a killer, with nearly 1,500m of elevation gain. It features a scenic and steep ascent up to the peak of Sumas Mountain, followed by a flowy and technical descent. Runners will pass around picturesque Chadsey Lake, past raging creeks and up and down technical single-track trails. There are several amazing view points, including an aid station at the Eastern Lookout. This course is as difficult as the name suggests, and will definitely test your skills. The 30k distance offers a unique team option, where members can total the finish times of their top 5 runners and compete against other groups for the title of Top Team, including their name on the team trophy and cash prizing of $500! Teams could be from a running club, workplace or any other group. The 20K is a vertical beast with 1,000m elevation gain. It follows much of the same route as the 30k route, passing Chadsey lake and up to the summit of Sumas Mountain. There are several amazing view points, including an aid station at the Eastern Lookout. Most of the course is on technical single-track trails; as such it will challenge your endurance and skills as a runner. The 10km 'Cuddler is a flowy and fun route with 400m elevation gain. Again, mostly run on technical single-track trails, the Verticuddler is still gives you a taste of it all - elevation gain, beautiful forest views, and the Verticuddler bear cheering you on, without the ascent to the peak!All distances feature well-stocked aid stations on course, fully catered finish line food, and custom racer hat by Territory Run Co., as well as podium prizing for top 3 finishers and draw prizes.
