Additionally, the ELMA COUTURE 1K swim pays homage to one of Ontario's open-water swimming pioneers, creating a special connection to the event's legacy. For those seeking a unique challenge, the Mudskipper Swimrun features a combination of 3.8K of swimming and 7.9K of running, promising an exhilarating experience for both seasoned athletes and newcomers. Join us for a day filled with camaraderie, competition, and the joy of open water swimming in the heart of Welland!

Over the years the Welland Recreational Canal and the Welland International Flatwater Centre have become one of the main focal points of our summer season. We thank the City of Welland along with all the participants of our events for your continued supportWelland Canal Open Water SwimFeaturing the Welland 15K Ultraswim.... yes it's back!One of the most iconic open-water swim events of the season, and a part of the Canaqua Sports Open Water Swim Series since 2017. With distances of 1K, 2.5K, 5K, and 15K this event has something for everyone. CHECK THIS OUTJUST ADDEDa late addition You asked for it, we added it.Many people have been asking about a 10K event. SOThe Welland 10K Open Water Swim is here as a trial distance for this season. Imagine a 10K and a 15K at the same event!
NEW NAMECanaqua Sports is very pleased to announce that the Welland 1K Swim has been renamed the ELMA COUTURE 1K swim in honor of Elma, who ran the Welland Canal Open Water Swim for so many years. After discussions with her daughter, Mary Phillips, we all agreed that this would be a true tribute to one of the pioneers of open-water swimming in Ontario. Mudskipper Swimrun - WellandBack for another year Canaqua Sports has pioneered swimrun in Canada since 2017. the same year we started running our events at the Welland Canal. Knowing this, and with the growth of our swimrun events, who could imagine not having Mudskipper Swimrun-Welland as part of our season-ending event This flat and fast swimrun features 3.8K of swimming and 7.9K of running in and around the Welland International Flatwater Centre. We can promise one thing. It is harder than it looks.
Come out and challenge yourself and for those of you who have never done a swimrun, come and see what swimrun is all about.
