Participants will be thrilled to dive into the action with various race distances tailored to their age groups, ranging from a 15-meter swim and 200-meter run for the youngest competitors to a 200-meter swim and 2-kilometer run for the older kids.
The evening kicks off with check-in at 5:00 PM, and the first race starting at 5:45 PM, wrapping up by 8:00 PM. In addition to the races, attendees can look forward to a special address from professional Canadian soccer player Jay Chapman, a complimentary BBQ dinner courtesy of the Rotary Club of Campbellford, and an inspiring atmosphere focused on community and support. This year, the event aims to raise $10,000 for vital local programs, including the Mothers of Newborns initiative, which supports new mothers and their babies. Join us on Thursday, August 13, as we celebrate the 18th anniversary of the Strong Kids Duathlon with an expansion into Campbellford! This beloved summer event is proudly presented by the YMCA Northumberland! And in Campbellford, there are some extra activities planned for the night! Everyone will enjoy:Special address to participants from professional Canadian soccer player, Jay Chapman!FREE complimentary BBQ dinner thanks to Rotary Club of CampbellfordPlus, the Strong Kids Duathlon is not just a race; it raises funds too! And with the event expanding to the Campbellford Y, this year we are fundraising for: The essential Mothers of Newborns program. This invaluable, free program offers mothers and their babies a safe and supportive path to health and wellness. Promoting physical activity and fostering connections creates a vital network of support and belonging for mothers during that critical first year of their baby’s life. We currently serve over 60% of all new moms in Northumberland! Important Camp infrastructure and initiatives to expand programming and serve more children in Northumberland to gain confidence and thrive!Including sponsors, we have a goal to raise $10,000 in support of these critical efforts, helping local babies, kids, youth and families shine brighter.This event is not about winning awards. It is all about being active together and supporting each other! All participants will receive a finisher's ribbon!Come and be a part of this empowering celebration, full of fun and emotions, as we unite to make a difference in the lives of many!EVENT DETAILS : THURSDAY, AUGUST 13, 2026Kids ages 3-15 can participate in this friendly, competitive event while family, friends, volunteers and YMCA staff cheer them on.Check-in starts at 5:00pm; first race at 5:45pm; Over by 8:00pm.Swim within the Lane Pool at the Campbellford Y.Run around the Sunny Life Recreation & Wellness Centre within the paved lot.Six different age groups, each with their own event start time and distance:3 years & under: Swim 15m | Run 200m 4-5 years: Swim 15m | Run 200m6-7 years: Swim 50m | Run 500m8-9 years: Swim 100m | Run 1km10-11 years: Swim 150m | Run 1.5km12+ years: Swim 200m | Run 2kmYMCA Membership is not required - any child aged 3 to 15 years can register and participate in this event. The event will happen, rain or shine.
For our 18th year, our participation fee is $18 per child.
