Organiser's Description
Welcome to the 31st anniversary of the Flatlanders Road Race, hosted by the Regina Road Runners Club. The race features a half-marathon, 10km, 5km, and a 1-mile children's race. Walkers are welcome in the 10K and 5K.All races start and finish on the track at the Canada Games Athletic Complex (Douglas Park Track). This year's race will be held on Saturday, October 4.
Registration Fees:Note: All registrations close at 11:59 pm, Sunday, September 28, 2025.Children (12 & under) - $15.00 Adult Early Registration - $40.00 (on or before midnight June 30th);Regular Registration - $50.00 (July1st-to midnight, September 8th)Late Registration - $60.00 (September 9th- September 28th)*No refunds
Race Package Pickup: At the Canada Games Athletic Complex (Douglas Park Track) on Friday, October 3 from Noon - 6:00 PM or on race day, 7:15 – 8:30 AM.As things can be pretty hectic on Saturday morning, we would appreciate as many runners as possible picking up their bibs on Friday afternoon. And you may pick up race kits for other runners.
Children’s Race: The Children's race is run before the other distances and is open for children 4 to 11 years old. They use the same start/finish line as the longer races; basically the race starts on the track in front of the timekeeper booth, runs partway around the track and then out the east gate, does a loop around the park – no roads to cross – back in the same gate and continues around the track to the finish line.
Race start times are staggered to reduce congestion at the start, to bring finishing times closer together, and for safety reasons so that faster 5k and 10k runners don't have to run back against all of the other runners. Due to the course design- with turnarounds for the 5k and 10k - some two way traffic is inevitable and we urge all runners to keep to the right and be aware of oncoming runners.Start Times:Children’s race - 1 mile at 8:45 AM;Half marathon starts at 9:10 AM;10K starts at 9:20 AM; 5K starts at 9:30 AM.5K and 10K walkers are welcome. The race begins and ends at the Canada Games Athletic Complex
Race Course: The race is run almost completely on the pathways in Wascana Park. There are KM markers and arrows marking the course, as well as course marshals to direct runners. Water is available at 5 aid stations on the course, and refreshments after the race.
Inclusivity: The Flatlanders has always been an inclusive event for runners of all abilities. Walkers are welcome for the 5K and 10K. The course officially closes at 12:30 pm; please choose a distance that you can complete in that time frame. There is another event scheduled at 1 pm.
Dogs and Strollers are not permitted. Unfortunately due to the congestion on the pathways and the two-way traffic it’s just not possible.
Earbuds etc. As with nearly all major races around the world – yes the Flatlanders is a major race - we have given up on trying to restrict runners from taking their music with them. But PLEASE listen for race directions from course marshals, respond to cheers from spectators, and be aware of your surroundings.
T-shirts (technical shirts) are available for purchase at $25 + fee per shirt. Last day to order a shirt is September 8. No late orders. T-shirts must be picked up at registration.
