On Saturday, choose from three exhilarating race distances: the Short Haul (35km), perfect for newcomers; the Medium Haul (56km) for those seeking a thrilling ride; and the challenging Long Haul (85km), designed for seasoned adventurers. Each route showcases the breathtaking landscapes of the Elk Valley and offers fully stocked aid stations to keep you energized.

Canada's Greatest Gravel PartyThe Fernie Gravel Grind is a Bucket List Gravel Cycling Experience for any and all riders. Located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, the FGG plays host to some of the best gravel cycling that Canada has to offer. Over the course of the weekend, riders will race up picturesque mountain roads and experience historical downtown Fernie filled with industry vendors, local beer and food trucks, live music and other entertainment!
Friday, July 3th - Downtown Festival & Expo 12:00pm-7:00pmKick off the weekend by picking up your race package and joining the fun at our Festival & Expo in Historic Station Square, Downtown Fernie. Explore top industry vendors, enjoy local food trucks, join group rides led by VIP athletes, catch the athlete panel and rider welcome meeting, and unwind in our lively beer garden.All festivities at Station Square are open to both participants and the community so bring your friends and family!
Saturday, July 4th - The Gravel Grinds 9:00am-3:00pmReturning to three epic route options in 2026, the FGG offers the Long Haul, Medium Haul and Short Haul. Riders will spend the better part of Saturday morning and afternoon racing these iconic routes throughout the Elk Valley. All routes will be carefully marked and feature the classic FGG Stoke Stations, fully loaded with the best ride food, and enthusiastic volunteers to make sure every rider finishes with a smile.Race Start Time: TBA
Saturday, July 4th - Tunes in the Town p/b Tourism Fernie 5:00pm-11:00pmWe invite riders and the community to enjoy our amazing outdoor venue located in the heart of Downtown Fernie. Awards and presentations will be held before kicking off Tunes in the Town presented by Tourism Fernie, featuring a wide cast of up and coming Canadian artists. Swing by Station Square, grab a drink in the beer garden and hang out for the night. EntryEntry Includes:All festivities in Station Square Friday & Saturday Night featuring vendors from across the industry, local food trucks, a large beer garden and fantastic live music by great Canadian artists.Gravel Grind entry for the distance of your choice.Professional timing, local's course design, well marked course, and certified first aid throughout. The Short Haul features a roller coaster of a ride with incredible vistas to boot throughout the Elk Valley. The Medium HaulFor those looking for big alpine climbs and descents, we bring you the Medium Haul. In a similar fashion to the Short Haul, the Medium Haul features a roller coaster of a ride with second to none views of the Elk Valley and Wigwam. The Long HaulHere in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, there is no such thing as a free lunch. The riding is just as beautiful as it is unrelenting and every descent is hard earned. But whether or not you’re here to be the first across the finish line or to simply take in the scenery with friends, you are guaranteed for an epic day out on the Long Haul. The Long Haul takes the seasoned adventurer riders from Downtown Fernie out to the cusp of the picturesque Flathead Valley and back, not without a mountain pass and getting up close and personal with mother nature of course. Distance: 85kmElevation: 1,700mDuration 4-6 hoursNumber of on course Aid/Stoke Stations: 3View Routes
Recommended Equipment Riding in the Heart of the Rockies is steep, loose, and bumpy with varying states of weather. We HIGHLY recommend tires that have good grip and good tread. The organizers’ daily drivers here in Fernie are 700×50c medium tread tires and we urge riders to do the same. Please note: Gravel bikes with wide clearance or hardtail mountain bikes are most suitable for both distances. The Long Haul will top out at 1,800m above sea level which can be as much as 10 degrees cooler than in town. Welcome to racing in the Rockies! Come prepared to face the elements.You are getting out there! So make sure to bring EXTRA water and rider fuel as well as an emergency jacket incase of severe weather. For safety precautions, any tires under 32c will not be permitted.
