Join us for the Walk to End Suicide on Saturday, September 6, 2025, in the vibrant city of Toronto! This important event aims to raise awareness about the critical issue of suicide, which tragically claims the lives of 12 individuals in Canada each day. With approximately 4,500 Canadians lost to suicide annually, this walk represents a beacon of hope and a community's commitment to change.
Participants will have the opportunity to walk together, memorializing those we've lost and supporting one another in the fight against mental health stigma. Every step taken during the walk brings us closer to a future where mental health is prioritized and resources are available to those in need. Whether you're walking for a loved one, to raise awareness, or to support the life-affirming programs of the Distress Centres of Greater Toronto, your presence makes a difference. Together, letβs stride towards a better tomorrow!

Organiser's Description
TODAY, IN CANADA, 12 PEOPLE WILL DIE BY SUICIDEEvery Step Brings Hope: Join the Walk to End Suicide.
In Canada, everyday, 12 people end their life by suicide. In a year, we lose approximately 4,500 Canadians, making suicide one of the leading causes of death. For every person lost to suicide, many more experience thoughts of suicide or attempt suicide. Everyday, more than 200 people in Canada attempt suicide. For every death by suicide, 7-10 loved ones are significantly affected by the loss.
Statistics point out key factors:
Suicide is the second leading cause among individuals aged 15-34Men are 3x more likely to end their lives by suicide Women experience higher rates of self-harm, which can be a risk factor for suicide Suicide disproportionately affects First Nations, Metis, and Inuit communities Thoughts of suicide are more frequent among the 2SLGBTQI+ community
At the Distress Centres of Greater Toronto, staff, volunteers, supporters, and stakeholders believe we need to make an immediate change in our community to educate the public about suicide, mental health, reduce stigma, and ensure our free 24/7 programs can grow to support the ever-increasing demands of our service users.
To combat this silent pandemic, we held our First Annual Walk to End Suicide event in 2022. Our goals are simple:
Raise awareness about suicide Memorialize the people we have already lost to suicide Reduce stigma surrounding mental health and illness Raise critically needed funds to support our life affirming programs
Join us, as we walk towards a better tomorrow!
