Join us for the exhilarating 2026 Larry Nicholas 8.2K Trail Run on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at the stunning Mission Creek Regional Park in Kelowna, Central Okanagan. This beloved annual event, a highlight of the Interior Running Association's Trail Series, celebrates the memory of Larry Nicholas, an avid athlete and passionate runner who tragically passed away during a rock climbing adventure in the mid-1980s. Runners will tackle a thrilling 8.2-kilometer course consisting of three loops through the picturesque trails of Mission Creek Park, offering a perfect blend of urban and natural scenery.
The race kicks off at 10 AM, with bib pick-up starting at 8:30 AM. Runners can expect a fun, supportive atmosphere, with awards for the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as age group prizes in five-year increments. Plus, don’t miss the Kids Fun Run following the main event, featuring two distance options of 600 meters and 2.2 kilometers starting at approximately 11:15 AM. Larry Nicholas Memorial Trail RaceThe Larry Nicholas Memorial Trail Race has been a stalwart of the Kelowna Running Club and Interior Running Association race series for over 36 years.
Larry was an avid athlete with a love for running. This run is in memory of Larry who passed away while rock climbing in the mid-1980s. The Larry Nicholas Trail run is sponsored by the Kelowna Running Club. The run has always been supported by the Nicholas Family - Larry's parents, his brothers and sisters and their families.
The 8.2K Larry Nicholas Memorial Run is the last race of 2026's Interior Running Association's Trail Series. It is 3 loops in Mission Creek Park. This park is a wonderful retreat where you can transition from city to the trails in minutes.
As well as the main race, we host a Kids Fun Run afterwards at approximately 11:15 am. The kids race is flat and has two distance options of either 600m or 2.2km.

In early 2026, the KRC lost one of our long term members, Andy Daley. His passion was adventuring and the mountains and he was a true trail running aficionado. After last year's race he suggested that we try the course in reverse and in his memory we are doing just that. Andy would never miss a moment to enjoy the beautiful scenery that surrounded him, and we hope that you can do the same in between the periods of suffering!

IMPORTANT: This year we will be running the course in reverse! Please pay attention to the map and route details below.
When you arrive at Mission Creek Park you will see some of our tents set up. Head there to collect your race bib and then cross the bridge across Mission Creek to make your way to the start line. The race starts running South-West along the gravel trail for around 400m until a left turn and a short steep climb. At the top you'll take a right and follow the markers and course marshals on 3 loops of the trails in Mission Creek Park. After your third loop (Don't lose count!) you're going to head back down the short steep hill and back to the start line.

Parking: Parking is limited so carpool if possible. Street parking is available on Durnin Road. Cars parked on Springfield Road may be ticketed.
RACE PACKAGE PICK UP RACE DAY ONLY STARTING AT 8:30 AM
NOTE: This is a self supported race. There will be no aid stations or water on the route, so if you need it please bring/carry your own supply of water and fuel.
